    Im kidding.

But theres alot about the people of this country thats been pissing me off alot latley. no one seems to have their own opinion of anything anymore, we only seem to belive and do whats put under our nose. who cares about whats happening anywhere else in the world, as long as i dont miss the latest episode of bones. people seem more passionate to find out weather its a boy or a girl on packed to the rafters rather than figuring out why the country they live in is in the state its in. 87 people dead in the UK, australias mother land, but who cares about that, australian idol is on.

the only opinion that people seem to have is the easiest and basic solution. does anyone go out of their way to follow up specifics about politics before saying 'kevin rudd sucks- fkn send all the boat people home'? no! make an effort to find out all the facts before you voice your opinion.

    Eg;
A conversation at work today started, and it went along the lines of this:

Paul: 'Fkn asians coming here on a boat. send em all home. simple as that.'
Me: 'mate, what would you do if the government came to your door and demanded that you pay $50,000 in tax right there. Since you cant afford it, the military comes back the next day, rapes your 6 year old daughter, cuts your wifes throat and trains your 8 year old son how to kill. Now someone says to you 'if you get on this boat all these problems will go away'. What would you do?
Paul: Yeah none of that sh*t is australias problem though'
Me: Yeah, your right. I mean it wasnt the USAs problem when Japan bombed darwin, cairns and rockhampton. I wish we told the US commander to piss off so the australian army of 200,000 could take on the Jap army of 6 million. Damn yanks should know when to butt out hey.
Paul: yerr, yerr, ok. If i knew kevin rudd was gunna do this i wouldnt have voted for him.
Phil: did you pay attention to kevin rudds campaign? Kevin rudd opposed john howards stance on boat people- from day 1 he said that he was going to change it. Now everyone that voted for him, hates him for doing what he said! Same with kyoto protocol.
    Paul: whats that?
Phil: jesus. its a contract saying green house emissions with be cut by a certain percentage by a certain date. but that means having to close down large factories. which results in less jobs, which results in more unemployment. which results in higher inflation ect ect.
Steve: Hey paul, didnt you get your job here after your old factory had to shut down due to that kimino protocol thingy?
Paul: oh yer yer thats right.

I do not understand why people watch the news on channel 7, 9 and 10 and read the herald sun. The herald sun has as much credibility as new idea. Those news channels are just as bad as the 'current affair' programs that proceed them. Has anyone ever watched SBS world news? That is news. Not a 30 minute sales pitch. 57 minutes of straight up no BS news from all parts of the world.

Romania, one of the most corrupt countries in the world is having the biggest election of the countrys history and at the same time its trying to become part of the EU. See that on channel 7 news? Nope. Just a story about about how j-lo ate shit trying to play leap frog.

Other than politics, other topics that people seem to have alot of narrow-mindedness about include:

Meditation. Anyone i talk to about this gives me 'what are you a hippy? go shave your head and try float n shit.' If anyone reading this has that opinion, please, for the love of god, tell me how you arrived at that. What do you know about meditation? Is there anyone on this forum that doesnt think meditation is about trying to float and lift up an X-Wing using the power of your mind?

Weight loss A mates brother told me he is trying to loose weight, so hes started drinking soy milk. that was 6 months ago. he is now as moody as a girl on her rags and he has epic bitch tits that he will never loose. Why? Because soy milk contains contains estrogen. Makes your breasts develop, your facial hair grow slower and it makes you moody as hell. no fat in it though! The most effective way to loose stomach fat is by doing HIIT (high intensity interval training) who knew that? bam.

Foreign Movies. Why dont people sit down and watch something other than THE LATEST HOLLYWOOD BLOCK BUSTER FEATURING JUDE LAW AND VINCE VAUGHN! Some of the best movies i have seen have been in another language. Or shot in entirely one shot. Or had no music. Can we only be entertained by things blowing up, lawyers having affairs and car races?

Culture- Art galliers, museums, operas & orchestras. Hands up who has seen the mona lisa in the flesh? What about Pro Hearts number 5? Da Vincis Venus di Milo? Whos seen a van gough? Better still, who knows someone who has seen any of them? These images of whatever they are will be remembered alot later than the latest installment of the twilight saga. Who has sat in an ampitheatre in front of a hundred-and-something orchestra as they all start to play. That shit is more intense than a 747 taking off over head. I recently saw the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra play Beethovens 8th. $120 a ticket. best concert ive ever been to.

OK, so after writing this, mabye the rant isnt about hating australia, but the fact we only see and belive not whats in front of us, but what we are given. Theres an entire world at our doorstep waiting to be discovered, yet a large percentage of the population would rather stay at home, do the same thing week in week out and then wonder where they went wrong come retirement.

I guess this is the inner hippy in me coming out. Why do people only see/believe/understand what is easiest for them? For christs sake, the internet is a gold mine for inlightenment. Yes, its an awsome tool for porn, but jesus christ, are you going to remember the latest set sasha gray did with a black guy more than you remember that day you went on a guided tour of your own city?

Why is it so hard for people to get out of their confort zone and do something they know nothing about once in a while? Go to a library and borrow a random book and read it. Youll remember that story line alot better than you'll remember the story line on the latest installment of NCIS: Miami/NYC/Hillesville.

ps- dont reply to this thread if you havent read and understood every single word written above. I can deal with a flaming from a mod, but arrogant smart-ass replies belong on AFF

pps- if any members of the AFP read this and wanna arrest me for the thread title, PM me before hand- ill gladly save you some time and give you my adress so you can search/plant evidence of a terrorist plot.

I agree completely. Some people don't know how lucky they are to live in this country, they should be forced to realise what they have that others do not. Good thread.

Hmm, yeah, pretty much agree with what he's trying to say, he makes quite a few good points; and pretty much sounds like he knows what he's talking about.

But WTF is with the foreign movies comments? yeh I've seen one good foreign movie, but spent half the movie reading the sub-text...

Sounds like he has some serious anger issues with a BIG part of Australia's population... - Although I don't agree with the big part of the population, I think he's going the wrong way about addressing the issue.

Nothing that any of us say or do will change the way the government works, or the majority of the population thinks...... Will it?!!

First of all, I should have just posted TL/DR. But I did actually take time to read his rubbish. While I agree with most of it, he just comes across as an elitist prat. Not only does he completely go off topic to what he was originally bitching about, He ends up contradicting himself anyway.

He complains that nobody in australia has their own opinions anymore then spends the next thousand words arguing his opinion against someone elses opinion. If you're arguing against someone elses opinion then I think they have an opinion, dont you? OP Fails. What a waste of time and energy making yourself look stupid.

The only thing he's ranting against is common stupidity, and I think he's fallen prey to the very thing he's ranting about.

He may be ranting, but how else is he to get his message across on a forum. No-one with the exception of a few will pay any attention. His message is sound despite what you may think. Yes he may carry on but the fact remains, ignorance belongs in the stone age. In this day and age we as a society have the time, energy and money available to do whatever we want within reason. Yet what some choose to do is to waste these opportunities. You seem biased, i'm curious as to why this is. Do you feel belittled by what was posted or do you have another agenda?

Im going to pretend there wasnt any veiled verbal attack in there and post accordingly, He is not arguing that ignorance belongs in the stone age, I actually agree with about 80% of what he is saying, however I cant help but notice that all he really seems to be arguing against are those who dont share his opinion, not those that are ignorant. Amittedly although these two groups would overlap somewhat, its difficult to completely like what he is saying, based on HIS underlying agenda which is actually quite a childish and flawed rant that obviously began early in the day with someone not sharing his views on immigration.

Also, in response to "In this day and age we as a society have the time, energy and money available to do whatever we want within reason. Yet what some choose to do is to waste these opportunities." I have to agree, but at the same time take a step back and wonder if this is not the natural progression of society, to have the resources to do whatever we want and yet have the freedom to decide we want to waste those opportunities. As much as you or I do not like this, there is not a lot you will ever do about this.

lol had to laugh when his rant went off on a tangent. I did agree with what he was originally saying though, a good number of Australians are extremely ignorant of what else is going on in the world. When something does come crashing on their doorstep, the ignorance turns to racism as they don't understand what is going on and don't want their precious way of life impacted.

Have to say when these threads pop up on this forum it almost always degenerates into racism and threats of violence and whatnot. Its pretty pathetic really. I'm sure this thread will be exactly the same.
