sounds about right as far as pay rate. its a job i say go for it.
Hey all. I just wondering, what do you's think of an offer of an Electronics Apprentiship at a large Security and CCTV firm? They install security systems, VOIP, Access gates and other assorted stuff. First year ill get $8.50 an hour.

Australia. Love it or leave it
if your looking at that sorta trade just become a sparky
to be honest an electronics 'apprenticeship' sounds pretty useless. Deffo get an electricians one, i have mine, and mainly do 24v control stuff, but im not restricted to it. You would be
If someones working on high tech complicated circuits n stuff i can undetstand the want for apprenticship, but in your situation,I reckon you'd be pretty much compentant after your first year of work, if not sooner. A jobs a job, true, but you'd be better off looking for something in that line of work as a TA, and earning triple the money. Other trades can do that line of work(after gettin a few certs) but cctv/security cable runners cant do other trades work.
My opinion is just based on what i see the guys do at work, i work at a large private hospital
Well ive just completed a cert 2 in Telecommunications and i like that sort of work, so i dunno lol.

the electronics apprenticeship is just a way employer's get away with paying stuff all. To install cctv, secuirity, access control you dont need a course. on the job training with the right people.
how do i know well its what i do. i came from a automotive background then got a job as a installer, plenty of traiing on the job 7 years later i am now running a medium size company installing all kinds of gear.
There is many options once you get into the comm's trade. to those that say you will limited on the work you do. well this is a small portion of what we do: cctv, access control, matv, telephony, dect, nurse call, messaging systems, pabx and bms.
i dont think its very limited.
i would say try and avoid the apprenticeship if you can.
