I got 1-6 perfect and number 7 I couldn't trace the line. Which means I do not have any form of colour blindness!
Actually the defective gene is carried on the X chromosome, so unless your partner is also colour blind, then the chances of your children being colourblind are virtually negligible.
So your XY and your partner's XX passed onto your children would be one of the X's from your partner and either the X (female) or Y (male) from you.
So given you carry the defective gene on your X chromosome, any male offspring you have will simply not carry the defective gene (providing your partner doesn't carry it). Any female offspring will also not be colourblind because even though they would have the defective gene on one X chromosome, they have another X chromosome that doesn't have the defective gene, which would be the one they actually use, therefore having normal colour vision.
If your daughter has a son, it would be 25% chance for her to pass on the defective gene to him. (I think? I'm starting to confuse myself)
Either way it's not a given that your children's children will be colourblind. No females will be (unless your partner is colourblind as well), and only one combination of males could be.
My mother is colourblind and so I inherited the defective gene from her.
I completely fail the Ishihara tests, but in terms of everyday life, I rarely and barely notice it.
I failed again to see any lines until someone had hand drawn it on the dots.
Note: I found out when I got a set of Dewent colour pencils for xmas one year. I asked my mum why I has so many different colours and then 12 purple ones all the same? I was tested shortly after that at school and only got the last page (out of 20 odd pages of dots).
I'm at my worst in dim light. Natural light I'm a little better at "guessing colours"
