Sounds pretty even I think. As soon as the gearbox goes in a VS it's a writeoff IMO![]()
just looking for a few honest opinoins on who got the better deal
VS :
- stuffed gearbox
- collapsed tie rod ends
- god knows what wrong with the cooling system
- reasonable intirior
- 3 years of me driving it
+ brand new f brake rotors pads + service on rest line flush ect (gearbox whent a couple of days later)
+ custom white vinal head liner
+ ok paint
+ custom exhaust
VL:
- leaking radiator (fixed now)
- poor paint, cracked bumpers ect
+ lowerd slightly
+ manual
+ reasonable intirior (for a standard vl)
+ manual
+ recent rebuild on motor by a preveus owner (apparently)
Sounds pretty even I think. As soon as the gearbox goes in a VS it's a writeoff IMO![]()
Honest opinion.....You got arseraped. Who in there right mind would swap a VS for a VL? I wouldn't take a VL for free, let alone swap a car for one!
mate the car was a step from the wreackers prob should be there now but this fella wants to fix it
Well, it might have been a step away from the wreckers, but thats one step further away than any VL is.
Much easier/simpler/cheaper to fix a VS than a Vl....
Yeah. Could use a VL for they body, but stock they're crap.. Manual is an upside though
VS would of been cheaper to replace than fix i asume, it probably needed a full rebuild i "drove it like i stole it" for awhile
without seeing either car i would think he got the better deal
pfft. vl manual wagon is way better than a vs auto sedan, i have owned a vl and a vs the vl shat all over the vs when i first got it and lasted four years the vs didnt even last a week (yes i am a hoon who cares)
did it have a fully sick turbo too?
you obviously dont like VLs. TBH there is no way in hell i would go from a vl to a vs.... especially a slow boring v6. Theres also no way in hell id go back to a N/A 6 cylinder commodore or a 5L after owning/driving a VLT.
I bet this guy ruined hes VS by dropping a crappy vl motor in it aye

Your right, i don't like VL's. There is only 1 good thing about VL's, they make huge power with a big **** off snail hanging off the side, other than that they are a complete waist of space....We're not comparing a VLT to a VS here, its an N/A VL.
sounds like it was going to be cheaper to replace the VS then fix it. If the VL is running smooth and no hassles, and your comfortable enough in it, then you got a good deal.
