ok im not sure if a thread has been started on this, just in the news the last couple of days a guy has had his cruise control stick on on a melbourne highway doing 100kph. my question is why didnt he/can you turn the motor off? he rang 000 and buy the sounds of the recording they told him to push his breaks on as hard as he can. i would have thought doing 100km thats just dangerous.

If you listen to the 000 Call that was posted on news.com.au, you'll see he tried that, he couldnt get the key out because it was stuck in ignition, he couldnt move the gearstick out of drive because the button was stuck (woulda been easier driving manual), I woulda tried the handbrake first. I must say though, bloody scary as hell.
Makes you think twice bout using Cruise Control. Scary times though.
