I personally would do it myself champ, here in Canberra we have a industrial kind of place called Mitchell, theres a few carpet shops around there i would go in and just get a large peace take it home, get the old tape out and get measuring!

I donno what you guys have around Geelong as I've never been there

Aww yeh thats awesome. yeh its just that whoever cut holes in the wood part also cut into the metal underneath thats why im tryna get a new wood piece made up. also i was thinking just bog up the holes in the metal and painting over it in the original colour. Sure will put up the pics mate

If the metal is cut it wont pass and if you make a shelf they may look underneath. I would probably look for a stock one shelf so they don't think it has been modified for bigger speakers and check the metal, but you may get lucky and they won't check anyway.

I reckon dont go original. Go a nice colour fabric or something.. Like suede effect or something i dunno. Your choice.

This is False in Canberra anyway, the metal that is between the boot and the parcel tray is not apart of the structural frame of the car.

Talking from first hand experience as i took my Calais though the pits without a sound system at the time and it was fine with the holes for 6x9's and the metal cut to allow for more room for the magnet.

And with the parcel shelf it doesn't even need to be plastic in my old SS that got nicked i got all my old car mag's and got all the pictures i liked took out the shelf, ripped off the carpet and lightly sanded it back and made a collage out of the pictures and put a hard lacquer over it, looked ****ing tops.

I'll try and dig up a picture of the old shelf.

You wont get knocked back for holes in the parcel. All my VLs have had it and my vl turbo god rest its soul had a big hole for the intercooler piping and that passed a roadworthy.

I have been knocked back twice in 2 cars for holes in the parcel shelf. It depends on what state you're in, you're not in VIC and the OP is. Be careful what advice you give because every state is different.

And to the OP, try Spotlight. Lots of nice fabric there
