    Default sidewall cracked

    Gidday guys,

Yesterday I went and was originally only getting two new tires as my rear ones had worn out on the inside edge something fierce, and there was a massive bulge on sidewall. How ever upon them taking all the wheels off and checking the tires, they all had cracks running the circumference of the sidewall (about mid-way)

Anyway, I ended up getting 4 bridgestones adrenalin re001s.

The tires that did this were GT Radial champiro 328s (Were on the wheels when I purchased the vehicle).

Anyone else had any experiences like this with shit tires like this? And what tires do you absolutely hate?

    Cheers

There are three things that cause 'zipper' breaks in the sidewall of tyres:

    1. Run flat - you drove on them underinflated (anything under a 45 profile needs a min 36psi at all times)
    2. Age - rubber 'goes off' after ~ 5 - 6 years, performance is compromised after ~3 years of age
    3. Manufacturing defect

9 times out of ten its the first 2 that cause it... now if you had GT radials and it was a manufacturing defect then you probably just got stooged by the tyre store who sold you the Bridgestones. GT Radial have a 'life of the tyre' full replacement warranty which means that if the tyre fails at any stage whilest its <~5 years old (have to check the age policy) and there is tread left then they will replace with a brand new tyre. Every tyre store knows this and my bet is that they took your money for the Bridgestones, then claimed a replacement warranty on the GT Radials. I bet if you go back there next week they'll have a brand new set of GT's on the shelf, haha. That is of course, provided it was option 3 that caused the failure.
