I call shenanigans, either they are trying to scam you for money when you should have just told them "tits or GTFO", or someone else with a similar car to yours hit them and your copping the blame. Either way, take pics of the car NOW. It will then be timestamped, meaning if they try to question you getting the damage repaired then you have a counter argument.

As for not letting you see the footage, well until you see it you have no comment, its as simple as that

Was it even a cop on the phone ??? dont be so easily fooled just coz they say they are a cop , ask for their station number and badge number then you ring them back , look up the number for the said police station and ask for the member in question .
They cant say no to showing you the footage , and yes they should look at the cars in question for matching damage you could be getting scammed by the other driver who is misleading the police aswell .
