    Default sleeves in block?

Hi! i need a piece of advice and my son recomended me this site! I,ve got an engine block that its completly gone n i took it to a reboring place and it can be saved by putting sleeves in it. Now i,ve been told that it implies to have new pistons as well after that. Now it is not a car that costs a fortune , i just need it to use it to go to work and back,(diesel engine) so im wondering what exactly can happend if i use the same pistons i have now. I must say that the block it will be redone to its original sizes and the pistons are original as well so the will be no diference there, apart from the normal weare n teare that i have on the pistons. What can happend if i use those pistons , obviosly with new rings ?
    Thank you

Pistons will wear to the shape of the bore, when sleeves are fitted, the chances of them being the exact same size and shape of your existing pistons is pretty slim. Also, the pistons are worn. Worn pistons into new sleeves will pretty much destroy the new bores.

    what he ^ said.

even if they do look the same and are pretty close to the right shape i would think if they stuffed the last bore that they would be pretty much stuffed as well.

isnt it the same as boring the cylinders? or will it wreck the sleeves because it will be a tighter fit?

It would depend on the condition of your old pistons. If they are excessively worn, nothing will redeem then, but if the wear is negligable, you might get by with oversized rings into the rebored and sleeved cylinderss.

I cracked a 307 block years ago. It was bored out to 4 inches, the cracked bore was sleeved and used 327 pistons were fitted with new rings. No problems were experienced during the next two years I had the car.
