Thread: Creaking Trolley Jack

  1. Default Creaking Trolley Jack

    Hey everyone,

6 months or so ago I bought a 2000kg trolley jack (so, the expensive kind, not the $35 supercrap special) and I've only used it a few times but I've noticed that it creaks every time I pump it when it starts to get high (when it reaches the lowest jack stand height). Does anyone else's trolley jack do this, and is it normal? Or could it mean that something is broken? Might sound stupid reading that but I'd rather confirm what's going on than have the jack give out

You sure its the jack and not the surface. Mine bits into the concrete as it moves (to stay level) but if its grabs a bit of ggravel it makes some wierd noises as it goes up.

i hope im not stating the obvious here, but does it need lube? if its been sitting around for a while unused, maybe some of the joints need a little slick.

Possibly, but it was only bought 6 months ago...I'd call the company/return it of its in warranty. best not to take the chance using it if it creaks

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless your getting under the car while supported by only the trolley jack. In which case you must have a painful death wish
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
