We're Racist!

An Australian KFC advert depicting West Indies cricket fans has been blasted as racist in the US.

In the advert a white cricket fan tells viewers it is "too easy" to calm an unruly mob of Windies fans by sharing a bucket of fried chicken with them.

The advert, which was posted on YouTube, attracted over 2700 comments in three weeks with outraged critics who say that KFC is perpetuating a stereotype that African Americans eat a lot of fried chicken, News Ltd reports.

Bloggers and radio presenters have slammed the advert as racist.

However, KFC have defended their ad, saying it was not intended for the US where "a culturally based stereotype exists".

The criticism comes two months after the Nine Network's Hey Hey It's Saturday generated international outrage for depicting dancing "blackfaces" in a skit about Michael Jackson.

Again, the US has a whinge.

I kind of think its racist to make the connection. I didn't even think of "black people/fried chicken" when the ad was on TV.

The problem with KFC pulling the ad off air just makes these PC issues worse. I would like to see for once someone stand up and say 'that is not racist, you are just being a delicate cry baby princess, now harden up and dry your eyes.' Then I would double the ad air time just to shove it up them.

The more the world bows to the pressure every time a small minority group jumps up and down, the worse this will get.

I am fed up of this pathetic pansy arsed world where everyone tip toes around afraid to tell jokes, hold conversations, be a bit different etc. for fear that some ones precious little feelings might get hurt.

I'm sick of hearing about 'racism'. Everyone get over it, everyone is racist in some way shape or form, absolutely anything can be taken as racist. Everyone should stop focusing on being so politically correct and 'perfect' and trying their utmost not to say anything remotely 'racist'. GET OVER IT, learn to take a bit of crap! it's just marketing and hot air.

Don't confuse what I said with racism in the form of prejudice and discrimination...I'm talking about just comments and statements etc etc..

yeh i saw this aswell but i dont really get it KFC are making an advertisment which involves cricket (as they r big supports of cricket, 20/20 and so forth) and the add was set in the west indies, which has black people and they are eating chciken because thats what KFC sells! did u want them to stick white people in the west indies and advertise french fries..?

I think anyone saying its racist is trying to make something out of nothing, but either way, thank you for taking that stupid ad off TV
