Just thought this would be a good help for people when their in interviews.
I wanted a few ideas for questions for an interview I have tomorrow for an apprentice mechanic position.
Thanks Sashyre. Was just wanting more question ideas as well. But that advice is useful too!
try seek or something of that nature
I myself are preparing for a full panel interview for career firefighting all these questions are for is to see how you think how you react

to the O.P, dont study things to a point where you sound robotic, I like when people take a second to think on the spot then respond. Hate people who have scripted every possible answer, gives me no idea on whether they are good at coming up with things on the spot. Anyone can study, not everyone can respond perfectly on the spot.

that is true minux. but wouldnt it help ease the nerves if you do go through some sample questions?

i'm a mechanic and i remember the interview for my first job, they asked questions like;
-what previous mechanical experience do you have?
-why would you be a good asset to the company?
-where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
but mostly general chit chat, i cant see to many service managers conducting a very formal interview.
use common sense and you should get through just fine, if you have to, massage the interviewer's ego a little.
well i am nervous as my career hangs on the final panel interview I can do the job really well and im confident is passing that criteria just not the interview

Well, I was actually wanting questions to ask the interviewer..
Im always nervous with interviews.
This is my chance at my full time job...
Ive had a few interviews and havent been successful..
Yea, thats totally the smartest thing to ask when your in for a interview...
I assume this is sarcasm, because sitting in an interviewing asking 'when do I get holidays, how many do I get, what benefits am I entitled to, how much do I get paid?' all rolled together make it look like the only thing you are interested in is how much you DON'T have to work for them while earning how much?
Let's get the job first.
It's always a good idea to research the Company too, so many employers will ask 'what do you know about us?' Try to find something not completely obvious from their website or promotional material for instance 'I see you won an award last year for blah blah' or 'I understand you have a niche market in....'
Ask about career advancements, the likelyhood of being retained when your apprenticeship is completed, do they offer additional training, is there a corporate or expected uniform/clothing style. Anything tuned to being keen and eager to work. Depending on the industry, you could ask questions about the type of tools, machines or methods used to perform your duties.
Good luck
Well, I think I went ok with the interview. It was for BMW.
Did research the night before.
Found out interesting stuff about them.
Was fairly confident with the interview.
I spoke to the guy that was mainly doing the interview a few days ago at work so yea.
Now just to sit back and wait for a reply.
In my eyes it doesn't matter whether its an apprenticeship or the CEO's position, if you come off as a complete idiot then you won't help your chances.
If I was employing a graduate with an attitude like yours, I would be ripping up the job application before it even hit my desk.
Good luck with it!
Remember, the more interviews you have, the more natural you become at it.
I forgot to reply to this thread...
The day after the interview, I got called and got rejected.. Time to keep searching!
That sucks for you, but atleast they had the courtesy to call and tell you that you didn't get it...
3 weeks later and i'm still waiting for 2 interviews I went to LOL
Doesn't matter for me much but because I got a better job in a industry i'm more interested in and they were interested in my past job history alot.
Good luck with the job hunting, gets you down a bit being rejected but you gotta toughen up hey lol
I have been rejected a fair few times so im getting used to it. Lol. Just gotta find somewhere that will take me on is all.
did they tell you why mate?...
