Just wondering if someone could give me a rough price or a starting bid price for a damaged vl that is in canberra, im keen for a spare parts car and this one has been t-boned but low kms and immaculate condition. What could i be expected to pay for this and for anyone that wants a better idea here's the link Vehicle Detail - Pickles Auctions Australia
Cheers
Hard to say, I just purchased a VL in average condition of eBay for just over $450 and my daughters original one was purchased for $750 both where in Fair to good condition but I have seen really nice ones go for upto $2K+. Also depends on the Engine size as well.
I recently purchased a really nice 2000 Series 2 VT Olympic which was water damaged for just over $1k at Auction and spent another $2k getting it back on the road, so you can never tell as it will depend on what tools go and if they drive the price up.
Good luck, it looks like it could be a really nice one for parts and you can sell off the balance on eBay or other sites to re-coup your costs.
Haha i was going to bid on that too mate. You go for it though.
will go for <$1000 without a doubt, i'd say start bid will be around $200-$450 and you could get it close to that, if a few more people want it up to $900ish i'd say, but there would have to be alot of people bidding for that price.
This is in my opinion though. I go to pickles every week and buy cars every now and again.
Cheers.
Cheers guys, sweefu what do you need it for would you fix it up or do you have a vl lol we could go halvies haha, Yeah im hoping around 200 not to much more becuase it wouldn't really be worth it becuase i would get it scraped for like 80 bucks once in done with it so ill just have to go and see i guess.
Dunno, that's why it's an auction. Go in an hour before the auction starts. You can walk around the floor and have a look at all the damaged vehicles before they go under the hammer. Going in early also allows you to fill out bidding forms and ask the people at the reception any questions about bidding and paper work, when and how you can pick it up etc... (they are very helpful)
I don't know what it's like now at their new location (they've temporarily moved because of an aspestos problem in their building), or even if they're still there.
I thought they had moved back in becuase it was under control now and in the item description it says proposed for 1 30pm 21/1/10 at fyshwick? Thats a good idea though going in early but i looked for commys for auction tommorow and thats the only vl they have but there is bound to be more then that one because there yard is huge
They may well have moved back in, I haven't been keeping track. They auction cars at a high turnover, i.e. they don't really keep any there and stockpile them. What they have on the site is what they've got on the floor each week. You can be sure of this because they do online bidding. They won't auction cars that they haven't listed on the site. To and to be honest I haven't seen that many VL's at all from Pickles, mainly because not as many people are driving them any more, and hence not as many being written off, that and their an older car. This is maybe the third that I've seen them list.
Shit so in other words their could be some competition. I check each time i remembered about once every two months and didn't see one so im now starting to think i wont get it as cheap. Is there any other repo car sales in canberra someone said something about there being one next to corkhill bros near the tip on majura lane? Anyone confrim this? Is 1 dairy road the normal site or not?
There's always competition at an auction, that's what makes it an auction. It's unknown whether it will cost you heaps or not, best way to find out is to visit and see so you know for next time if you don't get it.. Yes, you could probably pick it up for < $1000. VL parts are common, whereas VE parts are still fetching a high price. A repaired VL will not fetch as much, a repaired VE will still be worth heaps. It's good just to go anyway, so that if you do find something you genuinely want one day, you know what to expect.
Dairy road is their temp site, and that's where the auction will be - Auction Facility - Pickles Auctions Australia
Both their temp and normal site are in Fyshwick. I'm pretty sure their regular site is on Gladstone street.
I won't be able to make the f***ing auction![]()
