hey all.... well as been chatting with some of you, you all know how sydney went
and well only came back to adel to tie stuff up.
Lot's of you have moved city..... found work and stuff...
atm looking at moving to east coast somewhere, either in or around syd or in or aroudn brisbane.
As for license conversions, even just basic advice or ideas or anything was wondering what people had to say about getting out of your hole and starting a new adventure somewhere else
license is easy, pretty sure you just go in, give them your current license and they give you one for your new home state.
as for thoughts of starting again, i say go for it. i did exactly that when my ex left me for someone else, we were living in a reletively small town in north qld, i packed up my kids, my clothes and my tools and headed south. took longer than planned for things to work in my favour (due to events beyond my control), but it's definitely lookin up for me. got full time work in an industry where there's always room to move to something better
so yeah, like nike say, just do it

Just my opinion here, but I would stick to NSW if I were you. Qld used to be a great place once, but not anymore. The cost of living here is high, Car rego is the highest in Australia (around $900 a year for a
V8, around $800 for a 6 cylinder), roads are terrible. They are but a few reasons not to come up here. I really can't think of any good reasons to movre here, the bad points outweigh the good points by about 10-1.
i contacted transport qld to find out about my license transfer. I know a guy who went over there last year after being disqualified here, gave them all his details got issued with a full license, another guy went over there with out p1's, got p2's.
I got told to call their number, gave the guy all the details that i would be working at night, i drive a car thats illegal for p platers in their state and cant sell or get another car. and that SA told me i cant chane the license for 3 years.
ive had my license continously for 3 years in may..... just had it reissued after i won my court case. guy reckons despite what SA have said i will be forced to convert license after 3 months, and they will only issue me p1's... towhich he happily remarked afterwards, so your gonna have to sell your car and cant dive at night so look for a differant job.
anyway ive sent an email through to his boss explaining stuff.. hopefully i can get converted to a license with exemptions or something, i cant move there if they are gonna downgrade my license.
apart from that... was going to be staying with a relative over there.. girl i went over to syd for, had a fun week with her.... could have followed her to qld next week.. started planning all ofthis without that in mind... she cals me friday t otell me shes getting back with her a-hole ex and hes going with her... so i dont wanna go anywhere near sunshine coast now... after yesterday syd might be the go... relative i have in qld called just after she just got diagnosed with cancer.
bit of a messed up start to things
Hey mate how's it going?
Looks a bit hectic, sucks bout the girl and your relo.
Are you still planning on movin out to Sydney? What work are you planning on doing?
You may not have any better luck with the RTA, I think they're more strict on license transfers and all that than Transport QLD.
Let us know how you go.
Haha true.
$974.70 to be exact for a V8 - I just paid mine a few days ago.
Qld is going to be more shithouse than NSW in the coming years - these pricks up here have squandered absolutely everything.
Not to mention public transport is increasing 20% a year until 2014, which will make my weekly commute into the city cost $80.70 by the end of 2014 - and thats only 30km out.
Also we pay more for our petrol than NSW now, since Bligh got rid of the subsidy (which was paid for by our state tax money).
got another response from transport qld... blahblah blah obtaining a qld license can be done if yours has not be qualified.
getting a straight answer out of these guys is terrible.
Anyhow. its either there or syd... im trained for lots of differant work, been a retail manager, warehousing (just got a forklift license), security license reissued in 2 weeks (was stupid enough to work at hq once... hated it so much burned my license and swore off doing it again), been a dispatch coordinater for a courier company, and nearly have a diploma in systems engineer with a heavy background in it.... oh and a bartending qualification..
so hopefully work shouldnt be too hard to find
