alright so half an hour or so ago, my brother is leaving to drop off his gf,
and notices my telstra van wide open. so he wakes me up, and dad calls the police.
they took a couple modems and a shitty zte mobile phone.
oh, and when my brother dropped off his girlfriend, he saw a large bunch of kids going around getting into peoples cars.
anyway. what i want to know, is how does someone get into a 2007 model toyota hiace, without damaging anything. i cant see any marks on the door seals or anything from a coat-hanger job. and i am 10000% sure i locked it when i got home friday arvo, do they have some security flaw, like the old hiaces?
The door handle?!
lol, sorry mate, had too...
Seriously though, thats a pretty shitty effort on their part, did your brother stop and 'have a word to' the little punks on the street??
Does Telstra cover the van, or is that your responsibility? Lucky they didn't take more?
I'm not sure about any security flaws they might have, sorry.
But no matter how secure they are, (or aren't?) like most cars, nothing a brick won't get into...![]()
Not sure how'd they do it, maybe you accidently did leave it unlocked?
I can easily break into toyota landcruisers and the older style hiluxs with a set of tea spoonsGreat when u lock your keys in the car lol
I have heard instances where if the company van is broken into and it is under your care you are responsible for replacing stolen or damaged goods.
We have the same van for our company (pick up) i have no idea how someone would have gotten into it. The only thing i could think of is that when you locked it the rear door didn't lock. If we use the key on our van to unlock the rear door it will unlock that one only. Not the front doors or side door. Maybe that might have been the issue.
yeah my brother stopped and had a word with the kids, and they said they knew nothing about anything.
after asking around at work, apparently, works insurance will cover the stolen goods, aslong as a police report for them is done, and i get the reference number to my teamleader. which is good.
maybe i did just leave it unlocked, but the only door i got into durring the weekend was the sliding door, and that cant unlock the other doors. when i found it, the back door and drivers door was open. but yeah, maybe i was just exhausted friday arvo when i got home and forgot. just annoys me, i thought milperra was a reasonably safe area
Let me know if you hear anything about security on these bad boys, I drive one as my work car and even though it's got a Rhino alarm fitted I am still worried about it.
I know one of the electricians that we use at work had his hiace van broken into a few times but it also has a decent alarm and all the expensive stuff is locked in his large tool box. All they did was shove a screwdriver beside the lock handle to move the rod and you can see the damage.
Since there is no damage to the van maybe a door wasn't closed properly and it didn't lock?
Just interested to know which side of Milperra it was. Dad lives near the swamp and I know a friend that lives around the corner that never locks any of his cars!

it was on the whittle ave/bullecourt ave side of milperra, tho when my brother was dropping off his gf, he saw them near her place, which ... is somewhere on the swamp side, so yeah bit of a worry, because i know most people around here dont lock their cars much and leave their windows open alot
