Unhappy Beware out on the Highway Coppa's r out

Just finished work for the night in Hendra Brisbane (near the airport turnoff) and was heading back over the Gateway Bridge at around 8:15pm wed night 27-1-10.

I must admit that for some reason my driving lately has crept out of the normal safe and reserved style I adopted when I successfully passed my Practical Driving test For P2 status here in QLD.

I now notice that my driving style has become erratic and aggressive I speed to get home try to beat a green light and take excessive risk when on the open road. Well I got a shock tonight as I was pulled over for speeding doing 90km in a 60km zone.

$465.00 fine and the unfortunate pleasure of having to talk to a QLD police officer to explain myself. I couldnt believe it but on reflection I just havent been careful enough with my driving. As I left the officer I said that I would accept my foolishness but would be putting the spotlight on my driving skills and concentration on the road as I just cant afford to pay 500 dollars in fines as we are in a tight Jam as it is.

Members please be careful out and about especially on the HIGHWAYS, observe your SPEEDS and SPEED CHANGES practice the driving rules constantly as the long arm of the law and their ticket book awaits you if you dont.

Yeah, observe accidently doing more than 30 km/h over the posted limit...it is so easy to do...

Cheers for the heads up. I had no idea that there were cops on the roads.

WOW it took you doing 30km/h over the limit to realise your driving style is crap. Your definately on the ball.

So really, the only reason you are "changing" your driving habits is because you cannot afford the fines? Not because you are putting other road users, and the general public at risk of being killed or injured because you're a tool? Nice.

I think what he's saying is that getting booked was the catalyst for him to realise how bad he'd been driving.

He's freely admitting fault, cut him some slack I say.

Yes, stupid me thinks common sense would be the key to stop him being a tool on the road. I guess as long as you can afford the fines you do as you please.

You wouldn't be a tradie would you. I mean i know i'm not the most laid back driver, so i know i wouldn't get a job driving Ms. Daisy. But in my experience eight out of ten tradies average ten or more kilometres an hour over the speed limit (i usually sit dead on the limit), regularly fail to indicate, fail to give sufficient space to merge, fail to give sufficient space to brake, talk on the mobile and drive at the same time, eat and drive at the same time, and tailgate a fair portion of the time. You could say that many people who are not tradies do that sort of thing as it is. Of course they do, but i find your average Joe just isn't thinking. Tradies know exactly what they are doing, why else would they chance charging for the work they do even after turning up a day late and then not finishing their work.

does there really need to be a thread every time someone gets a speeding fine/other fine/defect etc? i've got a speeding fine before, don't remember posting a thread about it. yes cops are on the roads and you'll get fined for doing the wrong thing, i'm pretty sure around about 100% of people already know that.

Everyting happens for a reason mate...maybe the reason you got done tonight was so you dont end up having an accident in the future and being in a much worse situation.
