    f**kin had it. story goes ive got a sony ericsson K850i with 3. early november last year it was playin up, like would automatically switch off and would be hard to switch back on then one day it wouldnt switch back on. fair enough, took into 3 cause it had the extended warrenty. brought all my orginal paper work in to make their life a little easier. yada yada yada guy tells me it will take 6 weeks to diagnose/fix the problem. i was shocked like wtf? just said it straight out 'you fkn serious pal? ill go find an asian walkin on the street, he'll repair it in 10 minutes' but eh wateva left the phone with them on the 15/11/09.

    6 weeks pass and still no word. got sick and tired and just said stuff it, contracts not far from over, ill just pay it off and move to another dealer. call up 3 tell them what the go was. and anyone who has dealt with 3 will kno tryin to leave them is like the freakin end of the world for them. 4 transfers and a shit load of 'mate, i cant fkn understand u' later they sweeten the deal and drop my contract to $49 bucks for the remainder of time left on it. me bein a tight ass wog i happily agreed.

    another week passes and i call the 3 shop hoping they could chase it up for me. give her the jist of the story she goes 'hang on' hear a drawer open, shuffles thru a few phones 'na it not here'. i go 'ahh ca..' her 'listen, you'll get a msg or a phone call wen it comes okay' just like ye wateva u rude b*tch.

    another week passes and i decide to go to the store. walk up to one of the blondes workin there and tell her im a 'loyal 3 customer, and i can upgrade for free' shes goes okay what phone do you want? im like ive got a K850i so i want somethin equivalant or better but still in the sony range. she walks over to this one sony and goes 'this phone.. is better than yours' im like 'aw ye, u got the net on them computers?' she goes 'ye why?' walk over and get the sony site up and theres an option to compare phone. got them 2 phones up and im like 'do you even know what your selling? look it doesnt have this or that' yada yada. after that you could see she just didnt want me there so was like f**k this bullsh*t.

    which leads me to now. 31st of jan 2010 like 12 weeks later. going to be giving this place a call tomorrow TIO - Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman home page

    reason for this thread is has anyone dealt with this type of situation. what type of outcome am i looking at? what can i ask for? and where the HELL is my phone?

    Thats Hopeless mate, And people yell at me when it takes us 24 hours to replaced a Logicboard in there macbook. Come on 24 hours, what more do you want?
    Im With 3, i love there online service with account management, and reception here, no other provider can get signal. But when they F**kedup the mrs bill, saying nothing to pay for about 3 months, 4th month came to a 180$ bill. I rang them, and no joke transferred to several people i could not understand, took a good 2 hours to finally speak to some to sort out the f**kup, and understood and took off a whopping 20$ or something. If they still have nothing, get on to the department of fare trading, or just mention it to them, i have done it before and they get there sh*t together quick smart.

    i had the same thing with three last year...my nokia was playing up and they gave me the "4-6 week's" crap...i got it back 2 and half months later :| and no one ever seems to know whats going on...

    edit: and god yes its so hard to understand most of them lol

    na ive gave them enough chances. i mean they couldnt even lend me a phone. its been one let down after another. hopefully this tio company gets me out of this contract for free and works out if they pay out my old phone or get their shit together and get it back to me.

    and off to optus i go to get the sony ericcson satio

    "3" is one of those companies that uses an Indian-based call centre. Always a delight to have to try to deal with someone half way round the world whose accent makes it difficult to deal with when you have a complaint.

    Its pretty good considering the part has to be shipped 800kms to byron from sydney over night. Then fitted, then tested to be confirmed repaired. Makes it worse when you get a DOA part, Grrrrrrr. When i got my xbox repaired it was 3 weeks.

    I'd recommend virgin mobile. Rang them up to order a new phone the other day and got an australian bloke on the other end! Couldn't believe it. Haven't had problem with them in over two years.

    Hmm, Not sure about Virgin. I'd want a phone call thats going to go the whole way.

    im with 3, i DID have the same problem, camera wouldnt work and wouldnt save shit blah blah..... took it to 3 in Chadstone, they said it would be ready in 2 weeks,..... 2 weeks pass i get an SMS saying come pick up the phone from the shop... i go to chaddy to pick it up.. the phone shop is CLOSED... It had been sent to another shop... go and get it... and it doesnt ****n work.... i was not ****n happy, so i ring 3 and had a fair few choice words to say...

    I couldnt understand the dumb **** muslim on the other end, so i said put me through to St Kilda rd (where they repair them) just so i could speak to an Aussie... get put through and abuse the shit outa them for saying they tested my phone and it worked fine with them.

    As you said Jecs, some asian in Chingvale coulda fixed it in under 10mins..... but woulda voided the warranty.

    Upgraded my phone in December, havnt had a problem with it yet (touch wood). They did try and tell me thatmy new phone was going to be X amount extra per month, i said you cna jam that, coz you ****ed me around with the last one.

    only reason i stayed with 3 with this new phone, is because telstra and voda wouldnt do a deal on the phone i wanted, so 3 was best for me, and most of my mates are with 3

    Lol i aint signing up with 3 again once my contract is up 2 reasons

    number 1 my screen broke so i range 3 and asked how much it would cost to fix they said $120 and 2 to 3 weeks so i went to the asian shop $90 and five minutes later it was all good

    number 2 i had a 6G internet plan thing for $49 i had never gone over the cap then all of a sudden a bill pops up for about $300 so i rang them and said that someone ****ed up they said no you left the computer on over night. I have left the computer on over night before and have never got a bill like this then i asked if they could send me a thing to tell me where all the usage went and they said they cant do that and then they have the hid to ring me up a couple of weeks later and say that because Im such a good customer i can get another plan

    So i think im going to Optus or something else and see how they go

    So i suggest staying away from 3

    FYI, 3 and Vodafone are now in bed together, also known as Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA).

    3 handsets now roam onto the Vodafone network before roaming onto Telstra.

    And also, the TIO will want you to take your complaint as far as you can go with the carrier before they will step in. Got anything in writing or recorded? Makes a case whole lot stronger should it go through them.

    each time i call any company I'm with i immediately ask for a manager, regardless of how competant the person on the other end is. Generally it gets solved quicker with less stupid questions

    i had EXACTLY the same bloody problem. k850 with 3, first the touch buttons bellow the screen stopped working, and then the phone doing whatever it felt like. had my phone gone for 2 months
    comes back and switches on with black screeen. they never fixed it, just kept giving it back to me broken.

    thankfully, some gatecrashing sluts at a party stole my phone, when i was vomiting into a flower vase.
    i work for telstra, and ever since then, i have used my work phone as my personal phone outside of work hours, because they dont ever say anything about the bill. i now have a samsung 5220, simple, cheap, reliable.

    wow, hearing alot of complaints bout 3 so far lol.

    update: called up TIO today, and your right vy_storm. they want me to push it as far as i can before they step in. she wrote all my info up and she told me to quote that ive contacted TIO. she said it usually scares them and gets the ball rolling.

    so gave 3 another call today. once again told the guy on the other end my life story about this fkn phone and the time frame of everythin. hes like yeah, whats the problem? after i heard that i just flip'd it. cant remember what i said but was seein red. puts me on hold so he can find out whats the go with my old phone. comes back and goes 'andrew, they cant find your phone' feel sorry that indian guy, said some pretty messed up shit that makes me think he's gunna cry him self to sleep tonight.

    gunna hold out for 10 more days. if they dont find and fix my old phone or reimburse me for the RRP of the phone of when it first came out im callin TIO back up.

    they are also sendin me out a k800i. im like what for? hes like good faith. im like so ur sendin out a new phone thats a lower model than the phone i gave yous and expect everythin to be all good now? and hes like its not new. its refurbished (me: wtf?) but we will still be sendin out ur phone once its fixed. this is just so you've got a phone now and its urs to keep. im like so im gunna have 2 phones PLUS im thinkin bout leaving yous so ill have 3 phones. hes goes if u want to leave 3 we will wave the early cancellation fee and i will also be wavin last months bill (winnah winnah chicken dinnah!)

    Don't let 3 fix your phone, they are no good, they did the same to me with a Nokia they sent it to get fixed but they did give me a loaner phone, I got it back and it wasn't fixed. I took it to Nokia and they replaced it with a new one free of charge in about a week. Borrowed an old prepaid phone for the week. Call Sony, they will know exactly how to fix your specific phone rather than 3 knowing how to patch up the generic mobile phone.

    My phone would turn off when you shake it, 3 updated the software. Like the software had a bug in it that made it detect motion. Clever kids.
