[SA] flashed doing 70 in a 70 zone?

i just went across a set of lights next too regency park tafe after the 70 zone doing 70, i think it may be a 60 zone but the thing is there was no 60 sign until after the lights i got flashed at..... im not sure how too go about this because im on my p`s and this means im ****ed.
how should i proceed? i mean if theres no 60 sign to tell me too slow down i shouldnt be liable for speeding should i?

im allways carefull driving because i want too keep my liscence so this is pretty alarming for me , ive only got 1 point as it is from another bloody red light camera flashing me on an orange light.

i suggest going back and checking what the last speed sign is before you got flashed, then if you get a fine, fight it if it is infact a 70 zone.

that or get your speedo checked, maybe its out.

speedo is not out at all, i had cruise control on and the only reason i didnt slow too 60 is because i did not see a sign.
and its not that i wasnt looking, i see every speed sign.

Maybe you were 1 k or something over, you have a bit of leeway if indeed you were a smidge over.

it was disobay red arrow when i was turning right in the intersection while the light was orange and there was no arrow lights lit up.

Go back along the road, make sure there is no sign. If there is no sign, fight it. Simple. I dont see why a thread is needed for this, its such a simple scenario.

Guarantee it you just were looking and didn't notice the speed change.

yeh fight it and if they say im in the wrong ( as if they wouldnt ) i get too go back to L plates and pay for my p test again.... ffs this system sucks.

pillzor, go back along the road. Photograph the street to show that it was a 70 zone. Very easy to win this case if it is indeed a 70 zone.

As for the redlight camera fine, the lights have to be RED before you enter the intersection, there is no other way to get fined.

Minux, the road is clearly marked with TWO 60 signs, before the intersection.

I was there about a week ago, and both were still there (incase someone says both have been smashed into....). Pay more attention!

i went past again last night and there was an obscured 60 sign on the left, none in the middle.
how old is that google maps pic.

Both were there a week ago. Take pics of the obscured sign (and lack of median sign) and send them a letter (after you receive the fine) and it will be thrown out.

as i said, he should only lose 1 or 2 point if he is doing 13 or under over. IF now hes has been caught twice. then he should still have his license. Unless he is doing a bit more than 10 over.

in sa, 10kmph over the limit is an instant breach of p`s , anything under is a few points and i only have one.

i actually thought i was doing the speedlimit, fair enough if im tromping past cars but **** invisible speed signs right before a red light camera.....
i cant just cop this one on the chin, seriously it will ruin me.

I Notice it's a 3 lane road. If thats the case, there should be signs ob both sides of the road, because either one can be obscured by a large vehicle moving next to you. If one of the signs has been removed, I would be pointing that out to them.

To the "Letter of the Law" - YES!

I will remind you about how all speeds on public roads are "Gazetted" in the public archive. You have no excuse, even if the sign was removed, to be going faster than what is "Gazetted".

In other words, your privilege to drive is granted to you with the assumption you are 100% knowledgeable about all of the roads you intend to travel on.

The only exception is Temporary Speed Restrictions for road works and you can get away with not slowing down for them if you can prove the signage was inadequate to warn YOU on the day you were there, providing you were not exceeding the normal Gazetted speed limit.

A moment of inattention is all it takes. Hence why i am a little narky when i have passengers (freakin parrots). And i haven't used cruise control before, but wouldn't the cruise control be relying on the speedo to determine the speed of the car. Therefore if the speedo is playing up the cruise control isn't going to pick it up?

Yet. But you can still get done by a copper for doing so, same as running a red light.

i didnt stop too check, is your photo heading toward port road or towards elizabeth because i was head toward port road.
didnt think too stop and check for the other one because i seen that the one on the left was there and thought `shit` and kept driving..... i could have sworn there were more trees around than in that google maps pic aswell.

The google maps pic is about a year or so old, i was just pointing out where the signs are (about 100 metres before the intersection)

And yes, its the same direction you would have been travelling (theres no signs on the opposite side, only a 70 sign parallel to where those 60 signs are)


Make sure you get pics if you want any chance of fighting it (and as soon as possible, because theres usually 2 signs, so if one was smashed into it will be replaced quickly). Specifically a pic of each side of the road, where the left sign was obscured, and where the right sign 'should' have been.
