if i have RACQ cover will it work nationwide. Basically i'm leaving on a trip around australia in march and was wondering if i'm covered if i break down in say victoria will the racv or the relevant thing in other states pick me up? thanks any help is appreciated also any hints from people who have already done it
work for a mate and me when we drove from vic to Qld and then broke down in NSW check with racq as to what they will cover and what level of assist you have
all affiliated so should be fine man
theoretically
yep, all raa, racv etc are linked so you shouldnt have an issue. if in doubt, give them a call.
I was with RACQ when I first moved to Vic, I broke down within a week of being here, good ol fuel pump. Rang them up told them I was on a holiday, will RACV do the free towie? I got given a massive run around and was eventually transferred to RACV and the lady on the phone was really confused and said no.
I would try and talk to someone who knows what they are on about, I think i got a moron![]()
There is no stupid questions, just stupid people
You should be covered, double check with racq though, your pamphlet thingy will tell you everything as will the website.

Ah yeah....all the clubs are affiliated under the Assist Australia company. So if you breakdown anywhere in the country, you will be provided with assistance by the club of the state you are in.
The correct process is: call 13 11 11, goes to the local state, then say look Im an RACQ member on holiday and me car's broken down etc., the consultant will then take your member number down, and would need to call the club of our original membership (in this case RACQ) to verify your membership and entitlements, and then once that's all good you will be provided with the same level of service that you would receive had you broke down in your state.
If you need any more info, just let me know I can get some documents from work and e-mail them to you if you want a hard copy evidence of the process.
In NSW its the NRMA that will come out, a very reputable company.
Cheers
