Hey Guys,
Was on my way home today from the locksmith getting a new battery for my key and anywho, I was OVER the line at a pretty busy intersection that both alot of pedestrians and cars use.
The light went orange as I was over the line and I had decided to quickly get across which I did.. and then realised it was a red light camera interesection.. shat myself!
Got home, google mapped the intersection and it seems there was only one red light camera in the whole intersection and from the position of it I think it only got traffic going the other way. Heres a diagram..
So whats everyone reckon? Should I expect some mail in the next few weeks or have I gotten off.
im pretty sure its the wrong angle for the camera.
i reckon if you didnt see the flash you should be ok
half the time the box doesnt actually have a camera in it. They shift em around between intersections.
well at least they do in WA im not sure bout SA
If the light was amber when you crossed the line then youre fine, unless you were speeding. The law is you must not enter the intersection once the lights are red. And even if you were speeding Im pretty sure you have to be traveling inline with the camera for it to get a reading.
Once I crossed the line just after the light went red, the camera flashed, but I never got a fine. Maybe theres a certain leeway? I diddnt speed up to beat it or anything. I was also the only one in the intersection aswell (happened around 3am one morning). Maybe I was just lucky
EDIT: Also, not all red light cameras are speed cameras. Should be able to look up the camera here: http://www.roadwatch.com.au/speedcameras.asp
Who really cares?
Locked.
