Hey
Im just wondering if anyone knows why the NSW HWP park firther out (basically almost on the road) when they pull someone up.
I see it on the Highway alot and yesterday in Springwood (Chopa, the red SS) when he was giving a parking fine?
Thanks
It is actually police procedure (regardless of HWP or not) They have to park approx 1/2 car width out from the car they have pulled over to provide them "cover" from traffic. It is due to OH&S policy to reduce the risk of Police getting hit by passing cars.
There are 2 types of pedestrians, the quick and the dead

Yeah they do that even in town now. I was with my wife while she was driving somewhere not long ago and they had someone pulled over who had gone into an angled park but the police had left his car out on the road behind it and left his drivers door open. This resulted in my wife screaming some select words at how stupid and dangerous the cop was for sticking his car in the middle of traffic after she nearly collected his door, might have been a middle finger involed too lol. Shes not very nice but very entertaining
Can't say I have EVER heard of a cop causing in accident by where they choose to park when pulling people over. Only ever seen the US police videos where highway patrol get swiped by some douche that has run off the road. I'm sure of it was a problem for causing accidents they would not be allowed to do it.
I've seen pictures of a couple of Australian highway cars that have been wiped out while parked on the side of the road, there was one of a VE when they were new. The don't do it on the highways were I live anyway, it's not really wide enough or safe enough to do that
