So - I'm going to see AC/DC in Brisbane on saturday, and being my first concert I wondered if any more seasoned concert goers had any advice, for, you know, having the best time possible.
Its a seated ticket and I had to pay over twice the purchase price for it on eBay. Should be worth it I hope. I wasn't really interested in the mosh pit, but even though its a seated ticket I can't imagine there will be a lot of sitting going on.
I've heard ear plugs are a good idea because concerts tend to be excessively loud. I think I'll take some because I'm kind of fond of my hearing.

you dont go to AC/DC with earplugs..
You leave with your ears ringing for the next two days as if some tough VL commodore driver just backfired directly into your drum's
Yeah...
I'm still keen on the earplugs idea.
Not really keen on being deaf by the time I'm 30.

I would take earplugs since this is your first concert. If it is too loud, put em in, if it isn't, then you can keep them in your pocket, no harm done.
Get there early to make sure you don't miss anything, and above all, just kick back and enjoy it!

just go and have fun and enjoy it for the rest of us who can't get there![]()
Beer? Singing along at the top of your lungs? Keeping in mind that this may be the last time mighty ACDC come to OZ on tour so make the most of it. I went to melbournes show and it was awesome.
Wear decent shoes.. don't wear thongs or you will return home with bleeding feet

dude, i saw little kids at the melb acdc gig with NO ear plugs, so dont be a pussy, you dont need them.
Cash for merchandise, cash for drinks, know where you parked the car (if driving in).
and njoy it, it will be nuts.
Wolfmother is a shit show, so dont bother watching them.
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
Mad man.... Beer and sing along as loud as u can it would be an awesome concert to go to..
u dont need earplugs... not even in mosh pit infront of the speaker stacks.., you in seated area so not as loud.
went to pearl jam earlier this year is Brizzy and had a mad time in moshie..
ears ring for a bit hahah but u want the full sound of everything and not muffled out..
hear the crisp sounds of ACDC man Rock On... Have fun and have a good perv on the chicks
went to see dream theater live the year before in adelaide, BLOODY awesome! they sounded as crisp as if it was the cd playing, and the on stage performance was perfect- not to mention the mosh pit! \M/

Bring your earplugs if you want, don't listen to clowns saying that you are a pussy if you wear them.
I never wore them and now I have tinnitus, but that was probably due to industrial noise exposure as well. The concert that really set it off was Megadeth back in 2000 or 2001. Its not fun let me tell you. I now wear earplugs to every concert I go to on advice of my doctor. It filters out the crappy high end and makes it sound a lot better in my opinion.
The loudest concert I went to was Black Sabbath, I was 5 rows from the stage and I really couldn't handle the sheer volume without the plugs.
But its up to you - I just wish I was more careful when I first started going to concerts.
Water, water and water. Dont drink beer if your in the midst of the General Admin standing area because you will a) need to piss b) get extremely dehydrated. When I say dont drink beer, I mean don't drink enough beer to get you tipsy.
Honestly, because your in a seated spot, I wouldnt bother with ear plugs. I was standing right in front of the speakers at ACDC in Melbourne and at Iron Maiden...now thats loud.
Wear comfy shoes, loose pants and shirt. Youre going to sweat like youve never sweat before.
My understanding is if you are in seated areas, you have to remain seated. I have been to concerts where security will be on you like a fly on the brown stuff if you stand up, because the people behind you may choose to remain seated in the seat they paid for. Those who wanted to stand made their way to the mosh pit.
Depends I guess on the venue and audience. Because we had a corporate box, all concerts I have attended for some time have been in the box, where you can do what you like, whilst eating and drinking in comfort with room service laid on. Therefore I am not sure if they still enforce the seating issue in the main areas![]()
This probably depends on who you are seeing if it was an accoustic show then I'd assume they'd make you stay seated but for AC DC they probably wouldn't caer/ give up 5 minutes in anyway.
When I saw RHCP at Boondall (which is where this ACDC concert most probably is) they didn't give a shit.
Yeah Ive been to a few shows and been in seats and generally they dont care for rock shows. Theyre more worried about people smoking and what not.
heh I didnt remain seated, especially during Thunderstruck ... and I actually fell down in between a seat and onto some old lady during hells bells ... but i didnt spill my johnnie walker so all was good
BTW Sash corporate boxes are okay for some things (like the footy) but not for everything! I made the mistake of being in a box for Bathurst 1000 a few years back and although it was an experience I missed alot of the race, had NFI what was happening, and had to go downstairs for my intake of burnt petrol fumes and roar of the V8
I am going to AC/DC on Saturday too, but its far from my first concert!
A few things, there is no parking apart from disabled parking at the venue so unfortunately public transport it is.
* Always have cash for drinks/food and merchandise as usually there are no ATMs and if there is then there is always a MASSIVE line-up
* Wear enclosed shoes but no steel caps, and comfortable clothing
* Take ear plugs, you don't have to use them, but its better to have them if you do need them
* Don't take any large bags or anything coz chances are you will have to cloak them and this takes forever.
* Don't wear studded belts, bracelets or the like. A lot of concerts I've been to, they won't let you in with them on and will normally have to take them off, even if it means you have to hold up your pants all night!
* Don't get too pissed as you'll want to remember it. Make sure you hold onto your ticket. I have a photo album full of concert tickets and its great to go through every now and then and remember the shows.
HOLY SHIT! Just got back and all I can say it was bloody fantastic! The only thing I'll say is it didn't go for long enough.
But they were terrific!
Took earplugs but didn't really need them. I wasn't overly impressed with Wolfmother, the only song I really wanted to hear from them was Joker and the Thief, which they played last, and it seemed like it was the only song anyone really wanted to hear from them.
But all in all a fantastic night and the best $200 I've ever spent. I sure was glad I had an undercover seat because it pissed down rain for a while. Someone made a fortune selling those plastic rain ponchos.
Kinda sucked that I had walk 9km home because I couldn't get a damn cab to pullover. I could of done nude star jumps and they still wouldn't have pulled over.
Good exercise though.
