hello all,
might be getting a job at holden soon
anyone know what they pay per hour for a parts interpreter?
cheers
didnt you ask at the job interview
If its got Wheels or Boobs its gonna cost ya money
My mate Dun is one of the head I.T blokes for Holden at Fishermans Bend. He is on 83k a year. They just gave him a 20% payrise which brought him up to that figure. But that's pretty high up as far as I.T goes there.
Not sure what a parts interpretor would get. Wouldn't be TOO bad i'd think. Only problem with working for such massive companies is your job isn't as secure as a smaller company. For example, i work at a small verterinary wholesaler, our boss has given us his word that our jobs are 100% secure as we have a fantastic crew and he wouldn't swap us for anyone, and our profits are very high as the veterinary industry rarely goes quiet. Places like Holden, Ford etc are more likely to do mass lay off's.
Not saying you WILL lose your job, but it's a higher risk at such a massive company.
Good luck though hope you enjoy it!

I know its easy as tho, all the infos there in Microcat or part finder except HSV which can be slightly tricky.
But it might kill your interest in the product because your dealing with alot of the bad all day long (ie problem after problem after problem) Thankfully I hate the products I work with, but I'll never own one so who cares.

My little bro is currently the parts guy at our local Holden dealership and he's only on around $11-$12 an hour. Apparently it will go up when he's 21 years old but not sure how much. He's on roughly the same at Repco too.......so yeah crap pay. If it doesn't go up a fair chunk when he turns 21 I think he'll prolly look around for something else. He rekons it does have easier days, but most days are pretty stressful coz of the amount of stuff he has to do, mainly dealing with customers over the counter, phone customers, the mechanics out the back (he has to get all the parts for them for everything they do), does orders, delivers orders. It's only a country dealership too. He even comes home sometimes to get tools coz the mechanics need something which we have and they don't lol (we do the same for some of their tools tho).

pretty much agree with all of this. im a parts guy and i have worked for holdens but only as an apprentice so the pay was really bad. for someone with a fair bit of experience or qualified you should be lookin around the $16-$18 an hour and go up from there.
workin for holdens is great coz you can get parts for your own car cheap:P especially on apprentice wages.
ive moved on from holdens to prestige cars like jag and range rover now. but id consider going back to a holden dealer for the right cash![]()
dealers pay shit money
