I have a Year 2000 v6 Commodore
Recenly... When i start the car in the morning there is a clicking noise a bit like a spark plug is arking
the click is not precisily steady..
...but when i rev the motor the clicking does not increase in speed. As the car warns up the clicking disappears.
Could it be a coil or something...
Any ideas and a remedy !????
Bit worried it may be something more sinister ???????
Regards OldBob
Sounds like build up on the valve. Try running some valve/injector cleaner through.
I had this same problem with an old Magna years ago. It ended up being one of the leads had rubbed against the motor that much the rubber had worn away and a small spark was being produced between the lead and some metal part that was causing the clicking sounds from the spark. Try looking at it in the dark to see if anything is sparking anywhere.
Thanks for the advice...i will have a good look at the ideas.
The only doubt i have is , that the click does not increase when the engine is revved...
Will post.. if i come up with a solution.

how about lifters,,??? run some nulon lifter free,
how often are oil changes done
could be lifter noise untill oil has reached the head banks
Thanks for the help... will have a good look at all ideas... Its still there, but does not seem to affect the running of the car.. Only anoying !!!!
if it was lifters or valves or spark like everyone is saying then the clicking would increase with the revs, which apparently isnt happening.
Thats right the clicking does not increase in speed as the revs increase... It has me totally beaten !!!!! Will not go away, but does not effect the cars performance.
When the car has been running for a few minutes it seems to go away.
