Default Ford releases new US Cop Car

Not sure if this has been posted but for those that may be interested....

Ford releases new US cop car

"Ford in the US has released its long awaited replacement for the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor.

The car, which is based on the current Taurus platform, promises to be more powerful and efficient than the outgoing V8 Crown Victoria.

There will be two V6 motors available — a 196kw standard version and a 272kw twin-turbo version for highway patrol cars.

The car will have heavy-duty curtain airbags and a body reinforced to withstand a 120km/h rear-end hit and keep going."

What I want to know is if they mean that the rear-end hit is with the cop car stationary and the other car doing 120km/h or if both cars are doing 120km/h and one hits the other? Because if the cop car is stationary and gets hit at that speed I can guarantee the driver won't be in any condition to drive.

Not all, just 90,000 over x amount of years (i think 3). Theres alot more than 90,000 cop cars needed (just like here, each county can choose whatever car they want)

I think it looks good. Kind of looks like a cross between a camry and a cruze. But better

What I want to know is why the twin-turbo is only 272km when the FPV F6 here is 310kw on a single turbo.

Implying 'kw' is the only thing when it comes to cars.

It makes perfect sense to make them front wheel drive. Considering the fact that in winter, over 60% of the US has snow and ice on the roads. Crown Vics are seriously useless with snow on the road. Studded tyres or snow tyres don't mean shit after 70km/h...not safely anyway. In winter, every state I lived in over there the cops would park the Crown Vics and jump into the FWD Chev Impala....but it's way way way to slow compared to the Crown Vic (mind you, the CV is no speed demon either) It makes perfect sense to have this vehicle over there.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
