"A Tasmanian man was so angry his girlfriend brought a friend along to a camping holiday for a threesome that he choked her until she lost consciousness.

The Supreme Court in Burnie heard that Phillip Hilton Bissett was surprised when his girlfriend admitted to him that she was bisexual and wanted to have an orgy with a female friend last April.

After plying him with alcohol Bissett took part in "mild intimacy" with his girlfriend and the other friend but left when the women began getting more involved, the Mercury reported.

An intoxicated Bissett attempted to drive away from the campsite but crashed into nearby bushes. His girlfriend attempted to take his keys off him and the pair got into a scuffle.

He then strangled her until she blacked out.

Despite the assault and subsequent arrest, Bissett and his girlfriend have continued their relationship and since gotten engaged.

Bissett received a three-month suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of assault. "
