hi all, my mate bought a vp commodore about 8 months ago for 1.2 grand (so youd expect it to be decent-ish) then he spent 1.8 getting it roadworthy, (should be a fkn merc now) or so said the mechanic as 3 weeks later oil pump in motor went and my mate kept driving LOL, only for a bit but now his top end is shitted, i told him sell it, its all problems, its been sideswiped, the bonnet sits like its open but its fully shut, the shocks are fkd it drives like a bus and wobbles back and forth, its lowered, guards are rolled, had mudflaps that were zip tied on, i bet a hoon had it before him, oh and 2 days ago, his engine mounts collapsedany similar stories people? i wana lol at your mishap
how does paying 10 grand for a vn v8 sound? ****ing stupid if you ask me, yet i know someone that did it

My apprentice (I'm an auto electrician) bought a shitty 6cyl rust bucket of a carby VK, bought it for $2500. I assumed he'd payed $50 for it, but when I heard what he paid I couldn't laugh harder. Went through 3 dizzys and engine rebuild before I sold him my VS V6 for $2900...
my yardie at work, nice enough guy... never bothered to get his license til late last year, went out and got a car on finance. i was talking to him about it giving him the usual 'go over it with a fine tooth comb' speech, telling him key areas to look at (he wanted a commodore) anyway naturally he thought he knew it all, spent 6500 on a vs equipe (clubby kit, 18's, cat-back and not much else) within a week it was getting a new radiator (thankfully on warranty) 2 months on the fuel pump died, another month on the auto shit itself..... he let me drive it a few weeks back coz it was blocking the work ute and i gotta say, compared to my VR it handles like shit, sounds just as bad and feels underpowered.
i know my car's a piece of crap, but at least it's solid.....

Ex mate of mine bought the first car he looked at for his first car, paid $5000 for a v6 vt sedan, auto, it won't run at all on petrol (has both petrol and lpg). He just forked out $2000 or something near it just so it runs properly on gas, and even then you still have to be careful taking off at the lights because if you put your foot down too hard theres a loud bang and it stalls, or you'll be driving it and it'll randomly just stop running and you have to pull over and start it again.
Mate of mine swapped a Toyota worth 10k that he'd spent 4 years paying off for a VR worth 5k at the time had a dodgy roadworthy, 230000kms on clock sold it 3 months later for 3k. Still hasn't learnt his lesson!!
mate of mine had a beamer cant remember what it is but worth a fair bit and is paying it off, swapped it for an excel. he is still paying 70$ p/month for a car he doesnt own

I paid $1,300 for my VR unrego'd, and $2000 for my VS with about 4 months rego left, both needed/need a tonne of work, I still think I paid way too much.. lol
A guy I used to work with told me a story about a car he bought, he was not really a car buff and went and had a look at a VC Commodore which he liked, he was telling me on the way home he thought it was pretty gutless for a Commodore as he thought they had more oomf, turns out when he popped the bonnet it was a 4 cylinder motor, he never asked or looked under the bonnet, I thought that was pretty dumb.
dumbest buyer i know is my mate who bought a 2004 (MY05) wrx for 28k and is paying 180 a week for the next 7 years to pay it off..
Sticking a Chev badge on any Commodore is like putting a Nissan badge on a VL

roughly first 5 years is interest and in the last 2 he will actually be paying the car off which will probs be worth like 15k then..

An EX mate of mine bought a VH straight 6 factory 5 speed manual commodore it had 1 owner ever he got it for $700 with 136000 on the clock it was the buy of the century literally everything to do with the car was fine until he got the shits with his mother and took it out on his car smashed the windows and put dints in the panels then it sat in his shed for almost a year he ended up selling it for around $300 in the end.
The funny thing about this is that someone offered him $2500 cash for it and the 19" rims he picked up for $950 yet he didn't take that offer and farked the car in the end COMPLETE IDIOT.
not really a dumb buyer but dumb seller instead, I'd ask if this guy who was selling a vp ute selling for $2500 wanted a straight swap for a vp sedan spac he reckons give him $2000 and the car instead of a straight swap, wtf I don't think so, lol
OP did he buy it from frankston north by any chance? sounds like a mates old car he sold about that time

This has to take the cake for:
A)Dumbest Buyer
B)Best Salesman Ever.
Salesman at work took a customer out in some Hyundai wagon type thing, car breaks down on the side of the road (blows a driveshaft)
While they're waiting for the towtruck to bring the car back to the dealership, the salesman completes the sale and the customer buys the car for a total of $20k.
