Worlds largest tape ball

In my boredom I decided to Google the world's largest tape ball and came up with this:

It weighs 53 kilos and has a circumference of about 2.5 meters.

A few years ago while I was bored at work I decided to start my own ball using duct tape that I acquired from block of units I was working on (don't worry, the builder ended up screwing all the workers millions so it's ok). I know it's still around somewhere and it needs alot of work and I think with the right sponsorship I could nab the record. At the moment the ball is (if I remember correctly) 200mm across and weighs about 2 kilos.

Does anyone want to donate some tape? Or donate some tape and some time and we can sit in my garage and drink beer whilst earning a world record. Maybe I should approach a duct tape manufacturing company?

I vote for looking for a sponsorship from a manufacturer. Do you think when it gets big enough you just hold the tape on a spool and roll the ball around so the tape will roll itself on to the ball? that has got to be easier.. Bang! get an electric treadmill so you don't even have to roll the ball yourself and just chuck the tape on a spool attached to the hand rails of the treadmill. Win.

We used to make smaller versions and boot it about the warehouse when we were either bored or the boss wasn't looking, ah good times. Never was good copping one in the head though.

That's pretty much how mine started lol.

This thread has got me keen now.. I'll have to go to my parents house and see if it is still stashed under the bed in my old bedroom..
