Default Cops are here to make our roads safer

    Hey Guys,

So as the saying goes "Cops are here to help make our roads a safer place" Well I'm starting to beg to differ on this one. Today is the second afternoon in a row that I have seen this guy. Guy in a Blue BA Falcon comes flying passed me, i soon catch up to him due to him getting stuck at lights and to my surprise a i find a cop. In full uniform, talking on loud speaker on his phone, Speeding and sitting in the right hand lane when not needed.

So that's 3 offenses right there.

Talking on the Phone while driving
    Speeding
Staying in the right hand lane when not over taking (Not that this rule has any effect)

So I think i might change the saying from "Cops are here to help make our roads safer" to "Cops are here to help make our roads safer, so they can be idiots on the road"

Anyone else seen this kind of behavior?

You need to learn some facts first champ. Police are allowed to do all of those things.

Actually, they aren't, they have the same rules to follow as us unless it is related to duty.

You know the government's brainwashing is complete when people believe that police are simply here to police the roads. I thought we had a police force to enforce the law!

One officers offenses doesn't mean that every single one does it. If you don't like it. Report, if not. Don't whine about it but try not to lose any sleep over it.

Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.

I know that up here in QLD police are exempt from the road rules, while on duty.

Minux already cleared that up. Its the same aus wide, all road rules apply, unless its in the line of duty.

OP, report the driver. They have to take all reports seriously, and if any other people have reported him, he will be issued a fine for it.

I thought it was only an offense to drive in the right lane if the speed limit is over 90km at least here in Qld. As for the cop who hasnt seen them doing something the rest of us would get in s**t for. No way I'm reporting a cop for it I'm sure it would end up coming back on me and anyway who would they be more inclined to listen to a member of the public or an officer of the law?

Yeah this guy wasn't on Duty at all. I'm fully aware of what some cops are like. Post wasn't really intended towards the whole force, just the ones that tell everyone else to do the right thing, yet go and do the same thing while off duty. In this guys case he was probably heading home after work.

OK I didn't read the OPs post properly, the cop was in personal car, not on duty. In that case yes illegal.

As for the fact that a cop has to be obey the rules unless in the line of duty, a cop on rostered hours, is considered 'on duty' as one of their jobs is to have a visible presence in society. They don't have to have light and sirens or anything.

There is requirements that they have to follow. Even in a fully marked car, they cant fang down back streets at 200 just because their pizza is done. Most people assume cops are above the law, they arent.

On the total flip side to this, was that cop who was suspended without pay after a guy on a bike he was chasing crashed and died, thats a total load of crap (also cant remember the total outcome)

That brings up a technicality. Your still employed (as far as work cover is concerned anyway) on your way to work, until you get home after work

Cops and emergency services are always doing stupid crap like that because lets face it who is going to pull over a police officer? I hate authority though i have to say its the lesser of their evils.

I don't know who would pull over a cop, but I remember an incident where a cop pulled over a fire truck, with lights on, on the way to a fire......WTF? I wouldn't of pulled over.

I'm pretty sure the cop was reprimanded for it, not to mention the rest of his/her squad would have given him/her enough crap to last a life time.

But all in all, I respect cops, respect they do a shitty job that I couldn't see myself doing, and doing it for not much money. And while there are a few assholes, there are assholes everywhere in every workplace in every industry. Here are two occasions where I have been pulled over by cops. First, RBT, blocked off highway, I'm on the way home from work, I seem to get the motorcycle based on leathers, was rude, basically shoved bretho in face ans said blow in this, then had a go at me for having fog-lights on. Other occasion, on the way home from work, RBT, guy doing bretho was very polite, and we had a good 5 minute conversation about his pursuit Typhoon, and some other pursuit cars, really nice bloke. I know there have been more idiots and retards that have worked at my work then bad cops I've ever met.
