Sunny Coast man blew 0.433!!!

A Sunshine Coast man who blew 0.433 after crashing his car into a tree on New Years has been fined $2000 and had his licence suspended for 18 months.

Do you think the punishment fits the crime????

Bloody idiot crashed into the tree then drove down the road to his mums place. Witness saw him go there and called cops.Apparently he could barely even stand up and needed help getting his thongs on! 0.443 is what his bac was when they tested him over an hour after the first test.

I was under the impression the penalties are usually a month per .1 you blow so that should be just over 3 and a half years

This man should be locked up. I'm glad he only he a tree.

This is the absolute worst example of disregard for others safety that I have seen.

On a side note, 23 years ago I blew .124, and got a 1000 fine and 10 month suspension. No his punishment did not fit the crime.

My offence was dodgy too. My freshly (that day) rebuilt charger dropped a shifter linkage on the side of the highway with my mate driving. I got out and jammed it in second and called a tow truck. They sent out a car trailer. My mate could not get the Car onto the trailer - couldnt get it up the ramps in second. Wasn't letting the dipshit towie drive it so I got in and loaded it. The cops pulled up to see what the fuss was as i was getting out.
They were going to let me go too - showed them the receipts dated that day, showed them the jammed linkage. They ran a licence check via the radio on me and I had an unpaid fine, so they had to explain why I was 'of interest to them'. No choice - had to book me.

There has to be a certain amount of respect given to someone with the fortitu de to drink that much and not shit themselves let alone mange to get to a car and drive it.
