I think the Storm will be looking for some new accountants and possibly a couple of unskilled cheap players in the light of a 1.7 million dollar salary cap breach over 5 years.... Someone made a big booboo... I had the think if it was april 1st again.
Storm stripped of Premierships
Pretty harsh outcome for the players, whats the point of them playing the rest of the season.NRL boss David Gallop has announced Melbourne Storm will be stripped of the 2007 and 2009 Telstra Premierships, the Minor Premierships of 2006-8 and of its 2010 competition points after confirming a series of salary cap breaches amounting to at least $1.7million over five years.

As if they care about the game while being payed that much, probably about as much as anyone not from qld/nsw
I went for a ****ing nap. Wake up to this. WTF.
I dont know how we get boned, yet Gold Coast's Scotty Prince can get away with sponsors building him a ****ing Gold Coast waterfront beach house for free.
f....... wow no way!!! om my god!!!
(do they play some kind of sport or something? is it soccer?)
Yay Broncos aren't on the bottom any more. Sucks to be you Melbourne Storm.

Oh well thats what you get for cheating![]()
Something on the news made my night. A whole family went to the effort of dressing up in full Storm gear and going to stand and cry outside storm headquarters. Hilarity
I think there will be a few more NRL clubs trying to hide their cover ups. .
All i can say is......meh
lol at Mark Geyers comments on Matty johns show "What about these blokes that went and got premiership tattoos"![]()
Serves them right. Feel sorry for the fans though since their club has just f**ked them over big time. You think the clubs would have learnt after the Bulldogs getting busted for their salary cap breach. All I have to say is hahahahahahahahahaha. Go Dragons!!!

really would have loved being one of the people putting those $50,000 bets on the storm being wooden spooners just before the press conference...... would be rolling in it by now.
someone knew before the conference, and decided to make a retirement fund.
matty johns "i feel really sorry for the players" ; why the hell would you? some were recieving "under the table" cash payments!
the idiots that got tattoo's for it are just that. idiots, especially if they were cheating players on the team.

Thats a big call, you know for a fact they were receiving under the table payments? Many players would NOT have known. Maybe 1 or 2 knew, but not the entire team. That said, 1.7 mill over 5 years is just over 300k, between 30+ players listed on salary thats a whopping 10k each on average. Anyone who thinks that is worthy of being stripped of premierships seriously has issues.
The only cheats here are the administrators of the storm.

Have to remember though legal records only have to be kept for the past 5 years. Makes me wonder how long it has really been going on for. Bit stupid stripping them of the premierships though. Bulldogs cheated the salary cap and all they lost was the points they already had. So how can they justify such a harsh punishment? As for those idiots who went and dumped their jerseys etc what happened to supporting your team through the good and the bad, the highs and lows???
No surprises here:
Melbourne Rebels Super Rugby chairman Harold Mitchell says he is concerned about the welfare of Brian Waldron after accepting the chief executive's resignation on Friday morning.
Waldron, the man at the centre of the Melbourne Storm salary cap rort, quit the club after revelations the Storm had concealed $1.7 million worth of payments to its top players over five years.

what's rugby? AFL all the way.
Melbourne Storm well and trully have got the book thrown at them.
They should of done what AFL football club Carlton did with Chris Judd and paid their players by an external company ( VISY ).It works for Carlton so why not the Melbourne Storm.
They werent recieving "under the table" payments. They were being paid unfront. It was all going into the bank accounts and coming from 3rd party sponsors. The financial officers were just hiding what they were paying them from EVERYONE. Billy Slater didnt sit there with his calculator saying well I earn X amount... and Cameron Smith earns this amount and Inglis earns this amount... WOW were over the salary cap.
As Phil Ghould said last night. Melbourne knows what it costs to have an exciting, successful team. You can either pay your players top money, or watch teams like Cronulla fumble around like retards. The cap needs to be raised to stop the top talent going to either a) England to play Super League or b) Union.
The problem Storm has, and the problem Broncos have had for the last 20 years. They take no name players and transform them into international players in 3 seasons. Then they are taken away from them and they are stuck with nothing.
Also funny to see that the shit clubs are already licking the lips with the amount of Storm talent that has just come on the market.
bit harsh stripping the players & supporters of premierships.
when it was the admins fault.
inglis & slater to afl?????
Feel for the fans having been there myself in 2002.
