Default You are Hereby required to produce your motor Vehicle for a Roadworthy Inspection....

    Hey Guys,

Arrived home from work today to find a letter in my mail addressed to me in pen...

opened envelope and it contained the following from Vic Police....

You are Hereby required to produce your vehicle for a roadworthy inspection pursuant to Section 13.2. of the Road Safety Act, 1986, at Frankston Police Station within seven (7 days).

Failure to comply with this notice and instruction may result in a prosecution, the penalty being a fine of up to $584.00 and Registration suspended....

    Um Why??
Tried to call the number given but it rings out?
Did I do something wrong? or is this just a random check?

They might have seen you on their way to Maccers and wrote your reg down. They probably didn't see the plate up front.

Does it state which vehicle to produce?

usually it's because someone has complained about your car
in Qld, you have to take the car over the pits at the Dept of Transport inspection centre - it has 100mm rails surrounding the pit, so if you scrape - you fail...
If you pass the inspection - they refund your booking fee. But unfortunately that doesn't cover your time.....

    Just for the record:
    Road Safety Act 1986 - SECT 13

Power to inspect motor vehicles and trailers

    13. Power to inspect motor vehicles and trailers

    (1) An authorised officer for the purposes of this section or a member of the
police force may at any reasonable time inspect a motor vehicle or trailer
which is being used on a highway if the officer or member believes on
    reasonable grounds that-

    (a) the driver of the motor vehicle is not complying with this Act or the
regulations in driving a motor vehicle of that kind; or

    (b) the motor vehicle or trailer does not comply with this Act or the
    regulations.

    (2) An authorised officer for the purposes of this section or a member of the
police force may, by notice in accordance with subsection (3), require to be
produced for inspection at a place specified in the notice, a motor vehicle or
trailer which the officer or member has reasonable grounds for suspecting has
within the preceding 30 days been used or will be used on a highway if the
officer or member believes on reasonable grounds that-

    (a) the driver of the motor vehicle has not complied with this Act or the
regulations in driving a motor vehicle of that kind; or

    (b) the motor vehicle or trailer does not comply with this Act or the
    regulations.

Maybe they want to see my trailer!!

Chrisso, i had one of these in the Limo.

which officer does it say to see, collard of TMU?

Ring and book in for a time that suits you, if you say you work night shifts, he will arrange a good time for you.

All they will do, is have a chat to you (out side the station at your car) about what area you were reported in, and just take a couple of pics of your car and check your tyres.

Thats all they did to mine, and he was a good guy to talk to.

Someone had reported me for doing hoops in chadstone car park before Xmas.... i hadnt been to chaddy for ages, so i said id contest anything in court.

Just make contact with them within 7 days and you will be fine. (if he is out of the office, then leave a msg for him to call you at a good time) And there is NO booking fee.
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.

I had one of these letters come in the mail to present my Torana at Narre Warren police station. I know exactly where it happened, left a rod run at Autobarn Cranbourne a bit too spirited and the police car was going the other way.

Took the car to the cop shop, guy came out, had a look over it and then turned around to me and said "can't see any reason why this car needed to come here". My car is pretty heavily modded, no probs at all.

    Thanks guys,

It was a huge surprise to open the letter tonight!!
I always thought they either payed you a visit at home, or pull you over.

I know my Car is in good nick, and tyres are all new etc, just a few little tedious things that need attention to have it like new.

    shouldn't be a problem :-)
