Default Passed out teen set on fire

A teenage boy's head has been set on fire at a party in Sydney's northwest.
The 16-year-old boy had passed out drunk at the birthday party on Pennant Hills Road at Carlingford about 1am (AEST) on Sunday.
Police say he was unconscious on a mattress in a garage when someone picked up a can of petrol, poured it on his head and lit it.
The boy woke up screaming and ran for help.
He was taken to the burns unit of Concord Hospital for treatment to significant burns to his face and hands but has since been discharged.
    Police are still investigating

Seriously what kind of sick ****s would think it would be funny to pour petrol on someone and light it.

Seriously, what the **** is wrong with society these days for anyone to think this was a great idea...
It makes me sick, and to think my partner and I are not far off bringing another poor soul into this world. Mmmm!

Leah, you only have to look around a few places to see how intelligent the current crop of under 20's are.

Nothing surprises me with these people anymore.

Don't know about that one, admittedly I've had some wicked gear in my time but I've never felt the urge to set some poor bloke on fire (or anything for that matter)!!!
I believe the issue is morals, these days some kids do not seem to know the difference between right and wrong!

That's a stereotype, we do not all go around setting people alight. There are many intelligent under 20y.o's, it's just always the bad things you hear about and never anything else. yes, im sure it is much worse these days but no need to classify ALL of us as idiots who go around causing trouble and harming people.

    lol agreed.

The problem today is, children can no longer be disciplined in the ways they should be. So they know they can do what they like. I only look at cousins and their friends on facebook, theya re all under 16/17 and are smashed every weekend. My cousin in particular knows her rights. Her dad even threatens her and she is out of there and calling police.

Time for parents to be allowed to harden the **** up again.

Parents would harden up if they didnt have the threat of jail time hanging over them.

So, the Parents pick ****wit friends that WOULD do this to their children..?

Think not, some of the responsibility has to lie with the kids 'being kids'

well they can raise their kids with morals and respect and to know right from wrong.
and where does it say these people who set the kid alight were his friends? you go to parties and most of the time do not even know everyone there.

lol, so its the parents fault this kid was at a party smashed? Let me guess, they didnt teach him right from wrong?

I would almost bet the parents didnt even 1. Know he was at a party and 2. he was smashed.

Haha, no i don't go to parties and not know everyone, you might, and parties (what are we 6?) that i do go to, I know the majority of people there, so I feel (if I did get that smashed I passed out - not that it happens very often) I would be safe.

So, your saying, the kids are innocent, its their parents we should blame? pfft.. Ok.

I would've settled for piss-ups, but seeing as how you put it like that, yes thats better

I never said that, re-read my posts,

Just saying that children/kids/young adults need to be held accountable for their actions, cause this cop out "mum didn raise me no good" is getting old.

    "START END"
The kid was 16 so id hazard a guess all his "mates" at the party are 16/17 ive done some stupid stuff stealing garden gnomes(well it was a big frog smoking a cigar) but never in a hunderd years would i or anyone know pour petrol and light a "mates" head on fire thats just messed up i would seriously consider having those kids check out but a doc cuz really if they are willing and happy to do that to a friend will be that long before they start killing lil animals and so on if that isnt a sign of something really wrong what the hell is.

People always blame the parents and like some of said yes to a point its there fault a serious in teaching their kids right from wrong but at 16/17 the parents have done just about all they can.

Your right they prob didnt know the kids wer drinking but that dont make the parents at fault anymore then the government or the skool they go to it lies on the kids shoulders there choices.

BUT if i had to choose a scape goat it would be ENERGY DRINKS, BOOZE AND ENERGY drinks taste great BUT shouldnt be mixed i find it funny the Government hasnt moved to make them 18+ only like smokes n booze they do damage i love red bull n mother great stuff but it makes you funny when your on the piss.

there are some kids who are raised in violent homes, or with alcoholic parents. but yeh there are some kids who are shown no discipline and who's parents dont give a shit about what they do or where they are so of course things like this are going to happen. just my opinion.

Holdix, thats the thing. Aussies are known for harmless fun, like stealing garden gnomes This story is well past that and shows how society is heading.

We used to knock of garden gnomes. Up until dad caught us one night when he followed us after finding one in my room. The leather belt across my arse and my mates arses from their dads certainly made sure we didnt have that kind of fun again lol.

Parents do give a shit, but they cannot doa thing. When a mother is charged for slapping a daughter for being drunk and being arrested, you know things are ****ed.

Lol. yeah haven't heard a teachers opinion on it.
Victoria has the highest educational standard in Australia, I think it makes people start to care about their lives and gives them something to do through the years when they would be out getting ruined. By the time you've finished year 12 (if you do) you're at the very least better off for having had to discipline yourself and study.
