Default legality on accelerating fast to 60kph ?

thought this would make an interesting topic , lets say from the traffic lights you absolutely gun it at your cars maxium acceleration capability without wheelspin , chirping or and loss of control with no one infront of you.... would this constitute hooning or dangerous driving ... keeping in mind you dont actually exceed 60kph.
ofcourse if its a drag to 60 i assume you could be done for drag racing or something , i would like to hear peoples opinions and if anyone knows , the legalitys of it?
    cheers

but what laws is it breaking ? no tyre chirps /spins , no other cars around , no breaking of speed limit ....... just a quick squirt too 60.
dragging somone to 60 i can see the problem.

i am heaps keen to find out a straight answer for this too.
i have never heard about a law about how hard and radical you can accelerate.
if you don't exceed the speed limit i don't see a problem?
although at the end of the day it will still be reckless driving, it is unsafe...

there is a law "Excessive acceleration"

which is determined by the officer at the time, so if he wanted to he could book an old lady that takes 10 minutes to get to 60.

I think they call that a 'display of acceleration' or something like that which is an offence at least in Vic IIRC.

i personnally cant see any problem with it, but unfortunately the wording of the hoon legislation leaves a massive gap and can be classed as hooning.

what if your merging from like a 60 zone onto a 100 freeway zone?
if you just drop it down a gear and slam it to 100 is that deemed the same from a quick take off?

fair enough, i guess at the end of the day if a cop sees you acting irresponsibly he is going to book you regardless.
time and place to do it i guess.

offer discretion is what im concerned about because im sure if they wanted too they could write you up for dangerous driving even though i would consider it very safe.

Mate, if you fart while sitting at a set of lights they could get you for something. In Vic, police are over powered criminals really.

well youre not going to want the wheels spinning if youre trying to accelerate as fast as possible are you , not everyone just puts their foot flat while in drive in order to go fast.
