Hey guys found this cool app today, it allows you to listen to police and emergency services radio channels from around the world. pretty interesting stuff especially when listening to the LAPD or NYPD. My main problem with it however, is the legality of it. Can anyone tell me whether or not it is legal to have this application, or use it?
I have 5-0 radio, if thats what your talking about...
Not sure, I would also like to know.
yes thats the app i was talking about.
As long as they aren't decrypting encryption transmissions its perfectly legal. Same as listening to the scanner before police in aus went encrypted
Perfectly legal on open channels, I thought here they still weren't encrypted, not a few years ago anyway.
I think you are pretty safe from the LAPD or NYPD.

You think apple would let you download it if it were illegal?

umm yeh its legal.
I have a radio scanner on as I type this ... its honing in on Ambo's, Fire Brigade and police on non digital encrypted channels, so something from the US isn't a problem
IF your really interested ... Live Fire Streams
All Cops in Melb, Syd and Bris are encrypted now, i know for sure country VIC aren't not sure about anywhere else
