Hi guys,
I skillfully managed to crash an 06 xr250 into the steel wire that holds up power poles.
As a result, grease or oil is dripping from the bottom of the front shock onto the tires and flicking up onto the rider.
My question is - is it worthwhile to change the entire shocky on the front or would i be able to get away with just changing seals. Obviously without seeing it, it is hard to say.
Roughly how much is new seals or a new shock?
Any aftermarket branks that may be more suitable? (mainly offroad desert type riding, big rocks and sand etc).
Finally, how hard is it to replace yourself?
Cheers in advance guys, any advice would be appreciated,
you mean the forks? is the fork tube scratched up? or is it bent? no point changing seals if its scratched, because they will leak straight away. they have conventional forks right (not upside down)? the upper legs you will be able to pick up from any honda dealer in spares, and if you have the right tools for everything its not too hard to change. its as difficult as changing the fork seals.
it will be fork oil and its best if you don't ride it until you fix it.
got pics?
I will definately take some pics and post them up. I still havent seen the damage myself yet as i am still recovering! Great info though mate, cheers!
Enough for two months+ off work! Not what ya wanna be doing in mining town with rent at $1000 plus a week for a craphole. Sucks royally!
I read elsewhere on here that xr250's are bulletproof! No match for power pole stabiliser thing tho!
