Weird that I've never come across any of these fee's in my lifetime. Then again you don't see me at the bottle shop buying cheap piss praying that my pay has come through.

    lmao stocky.
I also have never had bank fees, I was on a student bank account till I signed up for a westpac account where if you have $2000 going in your bank a month you dont pay a cent.

To the OP do you mean when you get dishonor fees?

Lmao on the site it wants to to give them your bank account details.

I'm with ING at the moment, no fees regardless of whats going in in your account. They also occasionally send me emails saying things like "Hey, youv'e been a good customer, have $50!" I got a letter today saying "have 6.25% interest on your any additional balance for the next 4 months". I can also use any ATM in Australia fee-free as long as I take out $200+.

Can't argue with that after years of being Scrooged by Commonwealth.

Yeah ING is great. Haven't got any bonuses like that, but my account is just a high interest savings account, with a newly added term deposit.

I signed up ages ago to their Savings Maximiser, then when their everyday account came out, which had Visa Debit, and CBA still hadn't figured that out, I said screw it, time to change banks. It's a bit of a pain to figure out what you have debiting/linked to your account and move it over, but once it's done its worth it. They only ever give me promotional offers on the Saving Maximiser though, haven't had any yet on the everyday account, except when I first opened it they were giving $20 for the first direct debit you make, $20 for the first pay deposit, and $20 for something else I forget. Now they're saying they'll give you $5 a month if you deposit $2,000+ a month till December 2010. They've always got something going.

Do it, I've never been so happy with a bank. They do the interest thing every 6-12 months, and they have different promotions for different customers. For example, the $50 thing was because I had over a certain amount in my account, my missus who had just opened hers and had less got something else. They're always doing some promotion though, so it's good to be on board when they happen. The simple fact that you get a reasonable interest rate (comparable to short-medium term term deposits) and don't pay any fees is a big incentive. I've been getting between $2-4k p.a in interest just by having a moderate lump of money in there.

The amount varies as I move cash around for other purposes, but it's usually in the region of $40-50k. I suggest checking them out, the two products I use are Savings Maximiser, which is a high interest savings account - you only have access to your funds online, if you want to withdraw them you need to send them to a linked bank account and withdraw via that. You can also pull funds from the same linked account. The other product they've only recently introduced is called "Orange Everyday", which earns no interest, but has a (Visa) debit card with it, and lets you withdraw cash and make Visa/EFTPOS purchases. Neither accounts have any fees (unless you overdraw etc) and if you have both, you can transfer money instantly between the two.

ING Direct - high interest savings, bank accounts, home loans, business banking, everyday accounts - and no I don't work there.

To the OP: How is this for a smart plan - don't over draw your account and get no fees. Works for me.

This class action is a joke.

The banks made 2 bill from overdraw fee's last year. All this proves is we have idiot Australians who cannot budget.

You sign a contract agreeing to these terms. To think this will even get to court is sad, it surely is basic 101 contract law...
