I don't know if it's different state to state, but incase it is i'll let the Victorians answer this.
In a few weeks i'll have my 120 hours and i was wondering what i should polish up on. What do they actually make you do? Drive around? Park? I haven't reversed parked or parrell park yet, do they do that? I'll be sure to learn how to do that before hand anyway though.
Also, my closest Vicroads is Dandy and people saw avoid it and go to Warrgul or something, would that be worth doing?
Thanks.
they pick one out of a few low speed maneuver and make you do it.
there should be a list somewhere in vicroads (well when i went they had it)
be careful of school zones... I failed my first go because i didnt know it was a school zone and went 50 lol.
dande ones always heaps packed... try clayton or something
but they make you drive around, see how u change lanes... basically you just do what they tell you to do. REMEMBER look at your rear view mirror and side mirrors every now and then. what I did was move my head abit and not just my eyes, so the instructor can see it.
Hit the star under this post if it was any help to you =D

the first time i went to dandy i failed due to my tester telling me i didnt do a headcheck when coming out of my parralell park, when me and my instructor both knew i did, so just had an argument with the guy and he told me to get out and had to get the instructer to drive back to vicroads... piece of shit.
the next time i did it at Mooroolbark and i got 100% and the tester was nice and had a conversation when i was driving rather then the dick at vicroads.
Also book a time where you know there wont be much traffic around 10 or something.
and as junny said just try to look at your mirrors, i didnt do it much as a learner but now im constantly looking in them i guess you just pick it up.
anyways good luck.
It goes something like this. Fat Pizza P's test
VicRoads : VicRoads
They give any retard a licence in Vic, so I wouldnt worry about polishing up on anything.

If you're not confident with traffic, then it's worth going to a quieter town to do your test.
You just go for a drive, check your mirrors like a natzi and you'll be fine. Maybe practise some reverse paralelling/3 point turns
you'll have to do one of those.
nathans VY Calais - 'Calais 2.0' | VT Equipe | VS Calais **SOLD!**
I should be fine then i guess, although i'm not expecting to pass the first try as i hear not many people do pass first go.
What car would they generally use? I drive a VT normally and compared to the car i use with my instructor its so damn heavy (which i like), thats one thing i'm also worried about. Reversing and that i'm sure would feel a bit different from car to car. I also know my instructors car has the inicators where the wipers normally are, and that annoys the hell of me. God forbid it's like that in the car you do the test in.
you get to choose what car just aslong as its the transmission that your going for, and has a handbrake in the middle and is roadworthy, i took my parents 4WD, i couldnt stand the little toyota yaris my instructor had.
I wonder what they'd say if you turned up with a car that has an electronic hand break and auto-hold feature? Hill starts are SIMPLE!![]()
you have to do all the low speed manouvers now i think, the test changed 2 years ago from 20 min to 45-50 ish.
any mug can pass the test in vic, its too easy. that being said, i have a mate who failed twice haha. its rediculously easy actually, so there wouldnt be much point going to warragul.
you can do the test in your own car or the instructors car too.
I always thought you coulden't use your own car. That makes things a lot easier for me then. I just need to learn how to reverse park, i am yet to do that. Should be fun haha.
dont be over confident, two hands on the steering wheel. adjust the seat, even if its already in the right spot. get at least one driving lesson, which its appears you have had.
make sure you indicate when you start, when your leaving your parking spot.
When i did mine, it was both reverse park and 3 point turn. As someone wrote earlier, check your mirrors heaps! watch your speed carefully. And they tend to for example tell you to turn left out of a street, then all of a sudden, turn right at the traffic lights so you gotta quickly change lanes, i crossed a solid line doing so because i couldnt change lanes sooner. penaltybut mates have had to do the same thing and just told the vicroads person they cant get over and thats all good you turn at the next one
Everything you gotta know is on their website, and instructors tend to know a few tricks too, not that i had one anyway before my test. I've heard the pass rate in dandy is really bad, i went to pakenham, passed 1st go. I've heard warragul aint bad either.
In Vic they test you on,
Either: 3 point turn, reverse parking. They also may test your ability to turn the vehicle in a court.
They test your ability to change lanes, mirror, mirror, head check, (if a car in the other lane brakes you get penalised). They test your ability to notice speed signs, hence take you through school zones, shopping areas. They test your ability to follow giveway and stop signs (you must stop for three seconds). You should also note that they will try trick you to some extent, such as tell you to perform a lane change, however at the time they ask they are very aware of it being unsafe, and you must wait. In my test in particular, i was asked to do a three point turn right next to a corner, so i just continued to follow the street until i found a straight part. When going down small streets and a car is parked on the side, which forces you to move into the incoming lane, you must indicate out.
Your best bet is to get an instructor, as there is many little laws that your parents and friends will most likely not know about.
