gday
i just turned 17 and i am planning on going for my p plate test on wedensday i was wondering if you could give me any hints on passing? cause i here they make it fairly hard to pass
i can drive im just a tad nervous lol
cheers
check mirrors, over check mirrors like you are paranoid someone is following you. indicate more than required, only take very good gaps in traffic, make sure you look over your shoulder when reversing. SPEED SPEED SPEED, watch your damn speed. do not cross the white line at red lights / intersections.
Just remember that your vehicle is not fitted with optional indicators. Stick to the speed limit, and you're not out to prove anything to anyone.
Be yourself and stay calm.

Stop before the FIRST BLOODY LINE at an intersection... not the second or third.. Thats what i failed on haha
I build websites for cheap.
Be polite to your instructor, do not panic if you stuff up. I hit the curb at 50 on my P's test, and he passed me because i "didn't lose my cool". I'm not sure whether you'd call that irresponsible, but there you go.
Just stay 5-9 k's under the speed limit, move your mirrors a tiny bit to annoy you so you have to move to see in them, that way the instructor knows you're using your mirrors.
It's pretty damn easy though.
put it this way, drive according to the laws and you'll pass. If you don't obey the laws, you don't get a license. Simple as that.
Mate, i was in the same boat about a month ago
as long as you go into your test confident, check your mirrors constantly,
do your headchecks and stop when your supposed to, your a shoe in!!!
If someone walks out in front of you like they did on my P's test, make sure you stop and wait for them. Apparently a lot of people don't stop for people or animals coz the tester doesn't say to.
Not hard to pass at all mate. Have you seen the amount of bad drivers on the road? LOL
thanks for all the help fellas still a touch nervous i hope i can contain my heavy foot for that long lolol VZ_SS yes i have, to be honest with you its quite scary, i got cut off the other day and barely had enough time to stop i would of been about 20 centimetres away from the moron haha
I was lucky when I went for my test it was bucketting down with rain so had no choice than to crawl, and the tester didn't really wanna be out for to long either. My advice, be confident but drive like a grandma, slow, cautious, etc. then get ya Ps and do what ya want lol.
I just did mine a few months back mate.
I was nervous as all hell the night before and the morning but yeah just take a few deep breaths before it. When the instructor comes out, be the nice guy and break the ice, jump up shake his hand and tell him who you are, I did that and even though my instructor was about as lively as a stick in the mud, I think it helps.
Before you go make sure you have ALL your brake lights, indicators, headlights and reverse lights working, aswell as make sure the car can be stopped using the handbrake, they will test this and I know many people who have not even been allowed to do the test coz they are missing a brake light, and you dont get a refund.
But as said above, dont speed, but DONT GO TOO SLOW, I also know of people who have been failed for this.. A few k's under the limit is usually good.
When u get in the car adjust your mirrors and seat even though they are probably already set, just to ensure you look like you know what your doing. When driving look in your mirrors every 8-10 secs, always keep hands on the wheel unless indicating or changing gear, dont even scratch lol.
If the instructor says you didnt do something, dont be a smartarse and argue... In my test, I checked my mirrors, indicated, checked my blind spot and merged, then the instuctor goes "What did you just forget?" me thinking wtf? "Uhh nothing?" then he goes "You didnt do a headcheck".. I didnt wanna argue too much I said yeah I did and left it at that.
Remember you dont have to get 100%, I made a few mistakes but still passed.
Good luck mate.
/end essay.
Take it easy don't rush, even if you know you've stuffed up don't panic.
Most people pass on second go anyways, they like to get more money out of you.
my mate took his ps test stalled the car 2wice, hit the cutter and off the hillstart being a cold wet day all he got was wheelspins and still passed... was a miricle i tells ya :P
Skizo Performance...Giving a 1st class experiance everytime
when coming off a roundabout, dont touch the white line on the side of the road as you exit. according to the tester i did everything perfect but just touched it on the way back to the rta which means instant fail
just did it and failed because i didnt signal for 5 seconds when i was pulling away from the kurb in a dead end street wtf i think the instructor was havin a bad day he looked realy angry
oh well, theres always next time, just remember when you go again
I did mine like 7 years ago and past first time, i did the test in the driving school car that always look better then rocking up in your ready to go "P plate hoon mobile" thats prolly already a defect. andyway yeh as everyone has sed check mirrors etc constantly it shows that your alert about hazards around you like everytime u approach a intersection even if u have right of way just come off the gas and maybe hover the break and make obvious looking left and right gestures... i almost failed cause he got me to do a uturn at a round-a-bout and i brushed it slightly, he sed if i was to mount it i would have failed blah blah.
Anyway im currently 3 weeks from getting my license back after a year disqual, the court papers sed i was averaging 130kmh in a 60 zone... I loved to speed but after this year i can tell you its not worth the year disqual... freedom and life goes down the drain with out driving whereva wheneva u want... no picking up facebook chick friends for maccas runs at 1am![]()
hahah if its a chick, compliments help =) trust me lol if its a dude ... well can't help ya there
you should call up now and ask for any cancellations cos there always booked out for like 1 month or 2, just call every day, theres bound to be a cancellation i did that, and got one a week after i failed, saved me waiting 2 months for a booking
Make sure if it's in the morning, while the street lights are still on you turn your lights on, and adjust your mirrors BEFORE you put the keys in ignition, and drive with confidence but don't think you're king of the road!
I did my test today and passed and the best advice i can give is keep your speed down. make sure you are always 5 below as a buffer. and I know this sounds obvious but obey the signs and laws. i almost failed coz is didnt come to a complete stop at a stop sign. apart from that the only other advice i can give is take a instructor with you. if you have done lessons with them it calms you down alot
You're allowed to take your instructor with you? I wasn't allowed anyone else in the car.
