Default Angry people on the roads!

Twice over the last month or so, someone has started changing lanes into the side of me. I always just give a quick beep to let them know i'm there.

Both times the person changing lanes has started abusing me, shaking fists, giving me the middle finger and plenty of light flashing when I beeped them.

I don't know about other people, but if I made the mistake of pulling out on someone or starting to change lanes into someone and they beeped at me, my reaction would be 'Whoops, sorry!' and give them a wave to say sorry, definately not 'You idiot, why are you beeping at me?!!'

Almost always seems to be an angry Falcon or Commodore driver too

What would your reaction be if you started changing lanes into someone and they beeped you?
Whoever said 'There is no substitute for cubes' had obviously never heard of Jet power

I agree mate, its happening more and more. Some *VERY* old bloke did it to me recently, got within 1 cm of my berlina, my pride and joy, changing lanes without looking and we were the only ones on this stretch of road. Whatever happened to the good old head check?

Anyway, I beeped him and he started following me. So i pulled over, the old bugger just wanted to apologise, thought I was gunna have to unleash a can of whoop ass LOL.

I had some dopey bitch do this to me the other day but under different circumstances. Two lane roundabout, she was inside, I was outside. For some reason, felt it necessary to swing wide and take up both lanes before she even got into the roundabout. I avoided her by a couple of inches at most I would think, by braking, not swerving. Beeped the horn, she didn't even notice. Some people are just completeely clueless on the roads. She was driving a beaten up old Hilux, no shortage of scratches and dents on it.

Good thing I was taught to assume everyone is a ****head on the road, I slowed down deliberately so I wouldn't be next to her entering the roundabout. If I hada been next to her, she would definitely have hit me, and I just know she would blame me for it. It's one of those situations where you can't prove who was at fault either, it could have been her moving out into me, or me moving into her. I doubt she would be found at fault

similar thing happened to me, i was in the inside lane going straight and the guy on the outside lane was too, he was just ahead of me and decided he wanted to turn right(after we had entered the round about) so he continued around to the right(in the left lane) cutting me off and nearly causing an accident.

if someone beeped me because i was changing lanes and didn't see them i would pull back into my lane and give a sorry signal but if someone was changing lanes into my lane and i beeped them to avoid a accident and they started abusing me they should watch out because i will bite back big time (hasn't happened yet though)

Had a truck nearly run me off the road, driving along side with a truck next to me and he started to change into my lane so i guess he didnt see me, scared the shit out of me so i just planted my foot to get ahead of him and as soon as he saw me he gave a little sorry wave lol but it did get pretty close to me. I didnt get angry or anything cause it was a near miss and everyone makes mistakes i know i have.

Someone I know had that happen to them, but the truck hit. She got pinned between the truck and the guardrail, car was ripped to pieces, crushed in from both sides. Truck driver didn't even notice. Someone nearby saw it happen and saw the truck keep going, called the cops and gave the direction and licence plate no of the truck. He got nipped 2 minutes later, and tried to blame her, saying "I indicated, she should have moved"

****er wasn't even sorry that he could have killed her. She was very lucky, she had no major injuries.

I actually did this myself in a double lane. I was turning right from an intersection into the right lane (as you are supposed to do). Indicated left for enough time and checked mirrors. Bang. Hit this other bloke. I felt pretty embarrased. And was nervous and shakey. Lucky we were both insured.

I'll always remember to shoulder check from now on,

Not saying it was his fault. But he could of beeped me or something. I always do if someone has done that to me. And I slow down to let them through just incase.. Happens more often than you would think.

Yep if it weren't for the VX's ABS i would have been in an accident due to similar circumstances two or three times in the short period of time i've had the car. And in relation to a persons post above about a car taking a turn wide i know exactly what you are talking about, i see that every damn time i'm on the road. How the hell would these people cope in a car without power steering let alone the little bubble car they drive. Gutter rash because you have zero spatial awareness versus smashing into the side of some unaware driver. It's not enough to mind what you are doing at any point in time whilst driving, you also have to guess and second guess what every other fool around you may or may not do. I was taught when learning to drive; Mirror, mirror, shoulder. Not too bloody hard to remember.

Roundabouts seem to be everyone Kryptonite, except instead of making them weak, it just makes them f'ing retarded. Amount of time where I have been on the outside lane going straight ahead and the idiot on the inside lane is also going straight ahead, and when exiting the retards decide to exit into the left lane, is just goddamn stupid. ABS is my friggin Savior.

I just can't understand why someone would get angry about another person warning them that they are about to have an accident.

i know someone who lives in singapore and when they got a maid they had to answer questions such as "can i beat my maid?"

if they put these sorts of questions on the truck driving exam "can i force cars off the road if i need to change lanes and they don't move for me?" i guarantee there'd be some fails

At the set of lights near my place I've lost count of how many people have nearly taken me out. I have no friggin idea whats so confusing about the left lane being for people turning left and the right for people going straight. You think they'd notice the big ****ing arrows painted on the road. No one ever waves as a thanks for warning them, they just give you the finger for honking at them and continue on like they didn't do a thing wrong.

I remember years ago I changed lanes without doing a shoulder check and narrowly avoided hitting some poor bloke on his motorbike. Lucky for me he swerved out of the way before I hit him. I wound down the window and apologized to him when he pulled up next to me at the traffic lights. Never failed to do a shoulder check after that.

This has happened to me a lot of times, i never understand why people get so extremely angry on the road, especially when it isn't your fault. Most annoying thing in contrast to this is however, when people such as
exhibit A: Funny Situation last night - thought I'd share.
Chase down flashing lights and honking horn... mindless rage, i'm sure he however is perfect.

I've had this quite a few times when I'm travelling into the city theres 3 lanes 2 which go straight into the city and the right hand lane is for turning right which been there for god only knows how long on main north road, and yet so many times I've had ppl who seem to think just because they have their indicator on they have right away even if you are side by side with them and they all abuse ya, its not my fault you can't read the sign that says right hand land for turning right.

prob almost a month ago now, i saw a P plater, on the eastern almost change lanes 3 times into cars in about a 1km stretch. I've noticed for the past year now that im driving around most of vic, how bad some drivers are. I admit i do speed just to stay away from other drivers now, had to in the emergency lanes three times from dumbarses. I've almost changed lanes into someone, only from the fact he was doing about 30kms over the limit in his bmw roadster that i couldnt see in my mirrors, scared the shat out of me, i jsut gave a friendly wave seems i was in the wrong
