Dunno what everyone else thinks but scooters on our roads give me the major shitsThe stupid things can't keep up with the speed limit and the ones that can take forever to get to it. They constantly hold up traffic and cars are forced to overtake them all the time. Then the little bastards go flying past you at the lights and everyone has to overtake them again!! Am I the only one who thinks these stupid things should be banned on all major roads?
Not banned. Just make some rules to stop the dumb behavior.
Why to people want to ban everything these days?
I think you'll find majority of them its the rider and not the scooter, that you should be shitty with. even the tiny cc ones can always get to 50/60km and up relatively fast. Just not when the stooge on it doesnt twist the throttle
lol should see schoolies time on the gold coast, get packs of 20 or more scooters and they just run a muck off there guts on pills and piss from the night befor. bouncing over gutters, ripping up lawn, short cuts thru resort driveways, trying to do mono's and line locky's at lights, tooting at chicks left right and center. they just run a muck, its a pisser(but dangerous)
dont think they should be banned, but should have a better test that you have to pass to be able to ride one.. they do suck and are dangerous and cant believe theres not that many deaths.
only one i herd of was a chick going down the motorway at 3 am or something with no lights, got rammed from behind and ran over by the car behind the one that hit her...
Yep as above, user not the scooter itself. You will find this to be the case with just about anything though.

At what point did he say he has zero tolerance for them. All he has said is they should be banned on major roads when they can not keep up with the speed of the traffic. Don't know about everyone else experiences with scooters but up here one of our major roads is a 70km/h zone. I rarely see a scooter than can keep up with the speed of the rest of the traffic. It is an extremely busy road and some of these idiots hold up an entire lane with absolutely no concern for any other person on the road. While I don't agree scooters should be banned I think a rider should have to have a proper license to ride them in the first place, they should know what speed their scooter is capable of and if their scooter is incapable of traveling at the same speed limit of other drivers then they shouldn't be on the road in the first place. Simple!
I really hate when they weave through traffic at lights to get to the front, like they are some fast motorbike, now everyone has to overtake you, AGAIN.
I don't mind if some good Suzuki, or Yamaha bike goes to the front because chances are that they are going to take off a lot faster than you, but a damn scooter!

The scooters aren't that slow, its the rider. I took one for a spin when I was doing my motorbike licence test and they were about as fast as a 250, you just had to twist the throttle fully open.
I know that here in VIC you have to have a motorbike licence to ride them, and do a course before that, same as a motorbike. And funnily enough I don't see many scooters down here holding up traffic.
I'll add that I have seen a few electric scooters with a top speed of about 90kmh, so a petrol one has to be able to go at least that fast.

Kawasaki FTW! LOL. And yep, i dont think ther is a scooter that cant sit at 70kms easily. So its not 'the stupid scooter' slowing everyone down. its the 'stupid rider'. Its no different to all the grandpa's out there that drive 20km below the speed limit everywhere. People dont say 'that stupid camery' is holding up the traffic, so why 'that stupid scooter'. As a rider as well as driver ppls general opinions on bikes/scooters bug the hell out of me. Like above. 'taking up a whole lane'. :| Its their right to! Just coz a bike/scooter is half as wide as a car doesnt mean they should ride along in the gutter and they arnt entitled to a full lane space because all the big cars want to use that room. You wouldnt be getting up a slow car for using 'a whole lane'.
I do however agree scooters filtering at lights is kinda dumb though, as yeah, off the line they are no quicker then a car, so its pointless, unlike bikes (like mine for example) that if we filter to the front can take off and be well and truely out of the way of the cars before they even enter the intersection
Ducatti FTW!!!
If its got Wheels or Boobs its gonna cost ya money
Hmm, Scooter + 1098 motor?
yeah agreed that pisses me off, but scooters are kinda fun (i dont own one) and i wouldnt like to see them banned. i reckon the rule that they cant go in between traffic should be enforced heavily though.
my bursons delivery guy told me that he ran a motorcycle guy off the road just recently. the motorbike was cutting up the footpath side of traffic and was going wayyy too fast to see bursons guys flasher/turning into a car park. he hit the front of the delivery ute and went flying into a brick wall...
cops were telling him off as he lay bleeding on the concrete.
I saw some dopey woman sitting in the middle of Maud Street, right off Aerodrome Road in Maroochydore today waiting for traffic to stop so she could continue crossing. 10m further down the road, there was a pedestrian crossingshe was right here -26.657881,153.09376 - Google Maps in the little Keep Clear section. Either totally oblivious, or totally uncaring of the fact that she was in the middle of a heavily used road at 10:30am.
Not the scooters you're talking about, but still a scooterLike to see one of them get to 90kmh hehe.
Its actually completely legal for bikes to filter to the front in STOPPED traffic (so at lights etc) Its only illegal to filter through moving traffic. And as CSP said, Id rather filter to the front on my bike and piss a few of the car drivers off who are just jealous they cant do the same (coz honestly, how else is it actually bothering you?) then be parked on my bike at the back of a line of traffic, just waiting for some knob in a car to come along and do a SMIDSY (Sorry Mate I Didnt See You) and run straight up my ass and possibly over me.
I think the big fat guy in bathurst should be banned from riding one cause he looks silly. he is huge sittong on this poor tiny little scooter LOL
I agree, the scooters shouldnt be banned they are a cheap and effective means of transport when moving around town. Some of them have quite large engines, Vesper make huge 300cc ones. But the small ones that struggle in traffic should maybe be restricted to 60km/h zones or under or something
