In May I had a massive accident with a semi near the Koroit Rd over pass on the Princes' Freeway.
Anyway long story short. I was putting air in my tyres on the weekend and I noticed that the front one was completely bald on the inside. I went and checked the other front tyre and it was in the exact same shape.
I've had my car back from the smash shop for just over a month and have not noticed any shaking or pulling to one side at all.
I rang the repair place and asked if he had done an alignment. To which he replied no. I was surprided by this as I thought that it would be par for course with the amount of damage to the front of the car. I was then told that they had given it a road test and it drove fine.
However the assesor placed on the form that it would need one, and (you guessed it) he charged the insurance company for a full mechanical check and an alignment which he did not perform.
One question: who now pays for the checks and the new tyres?
if they said they did the work and didnt do it, they would have to give you one. dunno about the tyres though. one would think they would would have to provide you with some new ones (morally anyway) but dont know about legally.
also depends on if the tyres were bald before the car went in or not
Chev badges are an instant fail
he should do the wheel alignment regardless, if the tyres were near new and were damaged AFTER the accident (large breaking distance?) then they should be replaced as well. I would ring the insurance company and inform them of what the mechanic said. Number 1, it is theft. Number 2. You may think that he hasn't affected you in any way, but YOU pay for that insurance and YOU are the one ending up with vehicle that has had a service paid for but not done. Think of it as YOUR money going to the repairs.
I do have to ask, how the hell do you have an accident on on that overpass lol, its a straight rd
Call your insurer and tell them what the deal is, I am sure they would love to remove this guy as a repairer for charging them for work which was not carried out.

I would approach the the insurance company. They are your supplier and it is up to them to control and direct any/all subcontractors that they may use.
Being a front end alignment you may have a hard time proving your case however I would make note of your conversation with the guy in your diary and if it comes up that they claim they did carry out the alignment then ask for supporting documentation such as a report etc. Good luck with your fight.

It was just before the off ramp actually. I was in the left lane city bound. A bloke driving a semi was in the next lane just behind me. He needed to get off at that off ramp. he left it a little bit too late and merged into my rear quarter panel. He spun me around into the path of his truck. He hit me again this time in the front and sent me across the whole four lanes in a huge 360 degree circle.
How I didn't collide with anyone before I smacked into the cable fence is just bloody good luck. And I was even luckier still that we had just passed the concrete barrier.
He told me I was in his blind spot and that he didn't see me.
I agree with getting onto your insurance company, let them know you arent happy with the work your repairer has done and let them know about your conversation.
Be polite though, your insurance company didn't do the work, it is up to them to tear strips off the repairer, not you.
I more surprised that a semi hit you twice, and then you stopped via a cable fence, and the car was repairable.

At least you can use the pics to support your claim .They look fairly new.

Ring the insurance company and let them know. I think it'll go down as a customer complaint, so then your car will probably be returned to the repairer and have the wheel alignment and whatever done, then returned to you. Atleast im pretty sure thats how it goes at my workplace anyhow.
