Default It's d**k heads like this....

...Who give decent Commodore drivers a bad rep!

Man caught speeding at 186km/h with two kids in car | Perth Now

Why would you endanger the life of yourself, another woman and TWO KIDS! Both of which aren't even teenages yet. Especially after seeing a story like this

House, car destroyed in crash - The West Australian

I'm not saying I've never broken the speed limit, that being said, doing 56km over is just an extermitty.
I would understand if your wife was preganant, or you had a dying person in your car. But just because you deicded you were running late, gave you no right to endanger others lives.

I know living in the country its a lot easier and more tempting to speed. I just dont think, while other peoples lives are in your hand, it should be done

    People are Idiots!

It is bloody scary to be a passenger in a car thats going over 160kmh on a public road. I reckon drivers like that should be a passenger in a car that is speeding that much and see how it feels, bet they wont speed like that with passengers in the car anymore.

If you wana speed on your own, on an open road, no ones life is in risk (other then yours)
Thats fine with me. I'd do it too. Just be safe about it

(I relise saying "Be Safe" about speeding is ironic, but I can understand the enjoyment and if you wana do it, maybe do hotlaps or something, keep it off the streets)

I've got a fair idea where he was speeding and it's not hard to do on that stretch of road. It's dual lanes, flat and only a few curves.

If you want to speed- do it on a road that has no traffic at the time while you're alone in the car. If you want to endanger your own life- go for it......but don't endanger other peoples lives while you are at it.

I tend to agree, or I did, but now when the shit hits the fan Im the one who has to clean it up and tell the family members who werent in the car that their loved one wont be coming home.

In certain case speed is fine, and quite safe, but on most roads in Australia they arent of a quality to handle it. God the only 5 star road in NSW is the M7 in sydney and its a 100km/h zone, the M4 and F3 are heaps worse and you can do 110 on them, why not the M7? You could do 120 + on that safely.

As per all the other threads that are talking about much the same thing alot needs to change, but better roads and better driver training is at the heart of it all. If roads were built and maintained properly sitting on 150km/h on a freeway would be fine.

Ace- I dont envy your job at all it must be extremely hard to tell someone that a loved one wont be coming home.

I havent had to do a death knock yet, as they they call them, been lucky and I have only been in the job 10 months, but its a matter of when not if. Been to plenty of fatals though and have dealt with family members after the event when doing the formal ID of the accident victims. Its really hard standing there and asking someone is that your son/daughter/father/mother etc etc and trying to do paper work when they have just lost a loved one, it should be the last thing you need to think about but it has to be done.

You can on certain stretches of the autobahn highway but there's too many cars going as fast as you and for the most part are only limited by the horsepower of their engines. So with all the cars going fast, the flow of traffic seems 'slow' almost mundane. IMO there are too many toll booths to really be able to do a flying run (++210kmph) for any extended period of time like an hour or so. But no matter what car you drive there, theres always a bigger faster more expensive car than yours (eg AMGs, Porsches' Audi etc)
By the way, truck drivers also share the same highway and its common to be trailing behind two trucks barelling down both sides of the highway.
The highways here seldom have police so they dont enforce the speeding rule as such. 120kmph or more on a 80kmph highway is the norm

My old V6 VS went off the clock quite easily (for the publics sake, not on the road ) and that had a 220 speedo, and it felt solid as a rock.

lol, most of the roads around here aren't safe for 100 let alone 160. The princes hwy between Geelong and the SA border needs attention badly but it just keeps getting overlooked.

heh and you wonder where most of the money from your registration and fines goes to. Their campaign chests that's where. Not to mention the idiotic throwing of money at administration/flights/retirement funds/ and all paid for life..... Anyhow, as to the European freeways I've been on them quite a number of times... 200KMH is normal going from one country to another. Surprisingly it's very smooth flowing untill a crash occurs where traffic jams can be 30-50 KM's you can literally get out of your car do streches go for a piss walk up and down a few times and you still wouldn't budge. The road surface is immaculate, even the bends/curves are of a low radius and of a significant tilt so you can maintain your speed without hassles. Signs too appear 3-4 km's ahead and then at regular intervals, not like here where they only appear at max 1km distance and then again at the actual exit... yeah smart.
