For what you want to spend, they're ideal.

5k is only gonna get you a vg-vs v6 ute, the ford is the better option, it IS just a work vehicle remember.

everything about the ford ute makes it a good work ute, 6 goes well on gas, so buy it private, get the gas rebate and after you get paid switch it to business rego.
Parts are cheap, cheap to service and it will go forever. comfortable, with aircon, and will handle a load. If I was buying one I would look at one of the high lift ones very handy when driving over gutters and into/out of tight driveways

Personally I have an R9 Rodeo duel fuel V6, I bought it for other purposes other than work as well as for work. Little thirsty on fuel about 400km out of petrol and 360 on gas unloaded, 330 on gass and 350 on petrol with about 800kg in it of mixed about town and freeway driving.
Servicing has been pretty good, cam belt cost about $200 to do and a saturday mornings work, original brake pads got 120k before requiring change, the original bridgestone tires were about the same. Just dont brake anything major on them as they will cost you then genuine parts are expensive.
You wont get a good one in your price range though

    cheers
    Scott

Buy an old XF ute, with a pod filter and some Iridium spark plugs you should get 300kw easy and it will beat a VE GTS hands down. Fully sick bro. LOL

I'm surprised anybody wasted their time with helpful suggestions. He is obviously beyond help.

I had a rodeo 2.8 petrol. litre hi-torque when I was an apprentice brickie, had enough torque and pull to pull jesus christ off the cross (sorry if i offended anyone). It was a beast could tow a trailer and have the tray loaded up and you wouldn't have any loss of power at all.
