Default Something i would like to vent out and get off my chest.

First of all sorry that this has nothing to do with Commodores,
But i need to say this.

Today i was driving along St. Kilda road at around 4:00pm (60KM zone, with a lot of school kids walking home) and admittedly i was sitting on about 65KM's,
Though i had a 4WD right up my ass, that even high beamed me a couple of times for me to go faster.
Eventually the 4WD very quickly changed lanes and FLEW past me,
As i looked over i saw that it was a woman, in or around her mid 40's i assume,
With 3 kids in the back.
She was smoking a cigarette, had an 'I <3 Frankston' sticker on her rear window, accompanied by one of those annoying "child on board" signs.

Does this not annoy the **** out of anyone else?!
Not only did she hit at LEAST 80KM's whilst having her kids in the back at a time where young school kids are walking all over, and clear "school zone" signs all around,
    Though smoking?!
What the hell is it with these friggen' soccer mums driving massive 4WD's that think they own the road and just because they may be late for a wife session at the park or blocking all the aisle's at Safeway they think that its cool to drive worse than i ever would, being a P plater, endangering not only both themselves and their kids, but EVERYONE else that is stuck in this world with them.

I'm sick of having such a bad rep as a P plater when i see multiple cars each week that have been rear ended at the lights by a big 4WD with a confused looking woman standing next to it.

    Ugh!

What can we do to eliminate this problem?
    Assault plan anyone?

Step 1 will be to get rid of brumby.

Sounds annoying, definitely more pathetic drivers on the roads than us P Platers.

I'm all for them if you have the need,
But come on.. I sometimes wonder whether half of these house wifes would even be able to control a small 3 door hatch let alone a mass 4WD with the way they drive.
Anyone that doesn't know what i mean, take a drive down the Nepean Highway from Seaford to St. Kilda one afternoon.
6 out of 10 times you will see an "accident" involving one.
20 our of 10 times you'll see something similar to what i stated in my post.

When will the government think up a strategy for this rather than limiting over and over again the P plater laws ffs.

i dont really have a need for one.... but i love 4wding so it gets used. just like i had a Ls1.... you dont NEED to have one but its nice

i use mine for its intended purpose, it dosent cart around kids to and from school and soccer practice..... it comes out with me scrub bashin on private property and campin etc. plus i have a daily so it only see roads on weekends.

i really dislike the fact people buy them and they never see dirt, really annoying. they accelerate. brake and corner a lot worse than a wagon or people mover, i dont really understand why people buy one with all the extra weight of a second diff, transfercase h/d suspension etc for no reason.

I do hate that. Why the hell do they need a so called 4WD in the first place? I bet it's to feel high and mighty.

I really wish there never was a "craze" of suddenly everyone needing 4wds in suburban areas, they were dangerous enough in vans anyway.

Ill tell all something im a green p plater and I think that honestly 98% of p platers are little ****kwits and I know a lot of them
and see alot of them I live in orange now and ill tell you the competition around here with commos is huge all little v6 heads tho
lookin for recognition I know and agree the laws are tough but it does save peoples lives ive been drivin for a few years now and lost my licence a few
times and i personally believe that p platers have to earn the right to drive a powerfull car and this happens over the 3 years till you get your blacks
so everyone need to stop winging about p plater restrictions and start planning and building a nice quick car for when they get thier blacks oh btw its not
the soccer mums who think they own the road its them cockheads wearing cowboy in the bns utes with cat flaps and 10 erials thats aint even hooked up lol if those
gronks get aggressive just jump out at the lights with a torque wrench and watch the pussies run back to the farm lol anyways just had to get that out...

I'm with you man, every bloody 4WD i see is always nice and shiny and doesnt have a touch of dirt on it either, all they do on the road is to stop visibility and make sure they're safe when they plow into someone.

I too am also a (red) p-plater and i have people tail gating me if i do the speed limit, there are a hell of a lot worse and hoonyer drivers than us, few bad things on the news involving us, but do they show any of the non p-plater drivers hooning? course not cos people dont care abotu holder people being idiots on the road

Sashyre, at 4pm the school zone is over. 65 Ina Holden is about 61, so 58 once camera error is taken into account. Hardly breaking the law.

Easiest fix is to ban women from driving.

    Well there's your problem.

But I agree, I'm a 25yo male so by goverment and insurance standards I'm a menace on the roads blah blah blah.

But, I drive at the speed limit, I stick left, etc and apart from the occasional idiot in a fully sick commodore, 95% of the people I see driving badly around me are 30-40 m/f in stock cars and those who are considered by the system as 'good and sensible' drivers.

I think I have yet to see in my life a BMW, AUDI, MERC doing the speed limit or not in the right hand lane. Every single 4WD monster stuck with a soccer mum I see on the roads is as it's overtaking me going atleast 10kmph faster than me, and I sit on the speed limit and I know my speedometer is dead on.

    Solution to the issue?

More police on roads and a shift in goverment focus from nailing everyone anyone with a lowerer car and an exhaust to the wall by their balls to targetting people breaking any road laws.

    Focus on:

    - People sitting in the right lane, I long every day for a traffic system that works as good as in Germany... Slow cars on the right, overtaking cars in the middle lane and AMG/M5 rocket ships flying past in the left.
    - People tailgating
    - People while ####ing antique rust buckets as cars.
    - Increase speed limits across the board but increase penalties for breaking the speed limit.
    - Get rid of speed camera's from Freeways, Highways, etc and only use them in School Zones and residentail streets when the speed limit is 40 or 50. When you've doing 100kmph, doing 110kmph isn't going to make a difference while 10kmph over the limit in a 40 zone will be the difference between life and death.
    - Tougher driver testing, driver periodic retesting, better driver training education.

The issue is, this will never happen. 2 reasons for it.

    1. The current goverment policies make money while driver education, etc will involve speending money. The goverment only cares about 'road safety' when it fattens their bottom line
    2. Too many people would be taken off the roads or not allowed onto them in the first place. And goverment who intorduced this would be committing policital suicide.

    1. Did you think to get her rego and dob her in? Smoking is no longer allowed in cars whilst children are in it.
    2. Mums have 4WD's for the seating and safety factor. I'm not saying I agree, but thats fact.
    3. Those annoying "Children on board" signs serve a purpose, I had one on my car in case of accident, and it actually stopped people riding my ass.

P Platers, soccor mums, female V male.... welcome to the road.

I actually tried to scribble it down on my hand but if you have driven on St. Kilda Road before you'll know that it isn't exactly straight, and it has a lot of tram stops that swerve the lanes, along with big trucks. Not the safest road at the best of times.

I worked on St Kilda Rd, so yeah I know it well (and NO, not as a hooker).

I fail to see how anyone is unable to memorise a rego.

There have been so many studies done about 'who is the safest drivers' and P platers always come out on top,
Followed by the oldies, and the middle aged the worst every single time.
Anyone with half a brain knows that they're the worst, statistics show it loud and clear, yet your dead on when you gave the reason for nothing ever being done about it.
Everyone thats not a P plater hates them, which is why the media like to crush them on the news everytime they have an accident.
When your a brand new learner driver thats watched your parents speed through school zones to get you there on time and start driving with every asshole up your ass before ubruptly overtaking you and cutting you off because you have a friggen L plate up, one is forced into bad habbits.

I'm sure you know exactly what im talking about then bud.
Well it was that part heading towards the city when it turns from 80K's to 60K's (i believe where the Nepean Hwy ends and St. Kilda road begins).
Sometimes that roads not the best of roads when you have people cutting accross tram tracks, lights that you can barely see going red, trucks and swervy lanes let alone psychotic soccer mums craving an accident.

And in regards to the rego - OLC ???
Remembered the first part as 'Old Ladies Crash', so if you see it around jot the rest down for me.
I'm sure you'll be able to pick it, it'll be the one thats gone head first in a tree after running a red light taking out 10 school children.

I can't believe people like that.
Fair enough that people like to show off their rides, but little kids do get hit by cars all the time, its not an uncommon thing at all.
Shit id rather drive a friggen 49CC scooter with handlebar streamers and a basket for the rest of my life than hit a child let alone anyone for that matter.
