im going to be going on a holiday for the first time. going to QLD for a week in oct with a mate. never been on a holiday so figured id seek the JC community for any advice for the trip. i booked the flights tonight, leaving early monday mornin and returnin home late monday night, week later (cheap flights thru jetstar) this chick i know that works at josies travel agent hooked me up with this mint deal at..
The Towers Of Chevron Renaissance - Surfers Paradise Apartments
only down side is its 1 queen and 2 single beds. but from the pics it looks like a real mint place to be at. but anyways, im pretty un-familiar with qld, and ive never been to the theme parks so plan on going to movie world, dream world and the water one. i sorta wanna live it up and have a good time, and not be unprepared for anythin, or not go some where that is a must like pubs or clubs. so up for any input from clothes to location
i'll get back to you on this one, my mother used to work for Gold coast tourism. I'll ask her tomorrow.
Surfers in October is hot (by Victorian standards anyway). Movie World, Dream World and Wet n Wild are pretty much right next to each other (Dream World is actually about a km down the road) and buses and shit like that go there from Surfers so you should have no worries in that regard. As far as musts, im not sure what you like, but shopping wise you wanna hit up Australia and Pacific Fair. Theyre right in the center of Surfers and they are MASSIVE.
Hit up Cavil avenue parade. Its just a massive shopping mall strip with good resturants, shopping, sideshows, bowling movies etc etc
Jupiters Casino is a nice place as well. They usually have good shows on around that time of year and of course its good if you wanna burn some moneyTheres also a Hooters on the coast so you can hit that up.
Wow Robina? When I went up there last...was probably 3 years ago now (used to live on the Sunshine Coast and later on in Runaway Bay just outside of Surfer's) the big outside mall was the biggest, cant remember if it was Pacific or Australia...think its Pacific, always got them mixed up.
Robina is massive now been doing some work there
Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table, because he only recognizes the element of surprise
Pacific fair is pretty good, stayed right opposite there when i was up there last year. $50 will get you from your resort to the theme parks (return) and all the time i was up there i caught the bus everywhere. If you want to waste an hour or two they have a killer timezone up there near the hard rock cafe in surfers.
wow you've never been on holidays, that must suck balls
the Gold Coast and Sunny Coast are such great areas, you wont get bored
Do the worlds,go to sizzler, chill out by the pool.Best place for a holiday qld ,I love it there...
QLD in October, plan for around 28 - 33 degrees on average every day, so pack shorts and tee's along with jeans and jumpers. Boardies, singlets, hats and sunnies are must haves too. There are plenty of good clubs and pubs around the area, so just use the same sort of caution as you would in Geelong or Melbourne when choosing!
QLD/Surfers is maaaaaaaaaaaad! Very beachy laid back attitude
harbourtown factory outlet mall on the north side of the goldy could be worth a look if ya keen to do some shopping.
best advice, go to dreamworld mid week when its quiet and go on the tower of terror, repeatedly. that thing accellerates like a doorslammer!
Hollywood show girls!
And #### tails and dreams, It's like heaps packed every night (When I was there anyway) Haha.
Dreamworlds heaps fun, Same with white water world.
Jupiters casinos good fun aswell.
The #'s are another word for your pee pee.
Also, You can hire little motor rised scooters, all thats needed is a car license, Good fun to get around and see some places and see what talents around the place![]()
thanks so much boys, been some great feedback! this casino sounds like a bad idea, can already tell id be there just blowin my money aha. ye the reason i picked to go in oct is cause i cant stand 35+ plus days, id rather just kick it under a air con all day. thats why i thought it will be hotter than here in VIC but just startin to hit the 30 degree days. good temp where you dont go 'fk goin to the theme parks in this heat'
as for clothes, bought 4 new wife beaters from cotton on (they have the best beaters) gunna bring few pairs of boardies, prob 2 pairs of jeans, few tshirts, thongs and shoes. prob hit up and get a new pair of sunnies. ill think of more stuff as i go.
good point ethann, transport. wats the best way to get round up there to like the theme parks or markets? scooters are mint but can tell id get done on them haaaard lol
V8 CARNIVALE(formerly indy) in october!!!!
Draculas restaurant, draculas haunted house, infinity(must see), Q1 observation deck off the top of my head.
indy weekend? will i be seeing boobs?
Yeah youll probably find it will easily hit 30 up there in October, if not a little higher, so just be prepared
Transport wise Buses go everywhere and youre pretty much dead center of Surfers Paradise so you should have no worries getting around. There are also special buses that go to the worlds. The hotel should surely be able to point you in the right direction.
Check out Southport beach (or if you can get down there Broadbeach) carpark which is pretty much opposite Australia Fair on a friday night, seeing the cars you post in POTD, you will probably jizz your pants. That is if they still congregate down there on a Friday, they crackdown on them big time around October because of Indy. I cant remember if it is Indy weekend youre down there or not, but they do Drift nights in that carpark during the Indy week.
I went QLD at beginning of this yr.
We stayed in the bigger of the 2 cavil towers. Was pretty cool.
Uhh places to go... check out Infinity... it's pretty trippy. love the Strobe room 2 XD
Didn't enjoy dracula's much... was expensive and food wasn't tat great. You go thru a lil rollercoaster ride and they do shows and all the waiters etc are dressed up scary looking. But it's something you have to do if you haven't been before I suppose.
Movie world... you have to ride Lethal Weapon... it's keeno. When we went earlier this yr they did a Stunt driver show which was pretty cool. Drifting etc. O and movie world has a Batman Simulator which is kinda cool... and a Batman giant drop thingy (goes up fast then comes bak down and back up etc). Scooby-doo ride was good 2 but lines long. Shrek 4d was kinda cool.... was Superman ride at movie world? that was sick aswell!!!
Dreamworld - think it's terror tower or something like that? goes up the side of the Giant Drop. It's hella fast.. make sure u keep ur head on the headrest or ur head gets slammed on take off XD remember to keep ur hands in the air & smile for the camera its at takeoff on ur left! Wonder if dreamworld had the motorbike ride tat was kinda cool 2.
That's all I can remember at the moment. I'll write some more if I remember.
Edit: O ye.. I've been twice on the Plan B pub crawl... first time was keeeeeno... second time was kinda crap.

Ripley's Believe it or not museum?![]()
theres a very very good chance, its probably not as good perv wise as it was a couple of years ago though. anna bligh no less (qld's worthless premier) kicked up a stink about the chicks hotter than her showing their good bits (not saying for a second that anna's hot) and sets the cops on them if they flash. didn't stop them though.
seriously indy is wicked. V8 supercars flying past, eye candy everywhere, drunk hooligans running amuck, when the racings over hit the town and party all night, do it all again the next day. trust me you'll love it.
hotels in the track itself are a deadset rip off but there are bargains to be found nearby if ya look hard enough. i always managed to find a cheapish place on short notice at Wotif.com: Hotels, Accommodation, Motels, Serviced Apartments, B&B - Online hotel bookings with instant confirmation
I was there last year and I saw boobs everywhere being flashed by girls in the surrounding buildings. We had a guy sitting in front of us we named Mr Wanky. He spent the entire 3 days with his video cam on the balconies filming the boobs, and I am not exaggerating. Even his mates started to make disparaging comments to him during the second day. Right opposite us there was a mechanical bucking bull which a large number of girls rode, lots getting the cans out whilst hanging on. So many guys too with T-shirts "tits out for the boys."
Two things I've seen mentioned, ill comment on.
Movie World - Scooby Doo ride, if you are tall 6ft +) this ride offers no uper back or neck support, this ride ####ed my neck and left me in pain for two days, not cool on a holiday, but its a good ride.
Dream World - Motorbike ride, I was busting to take a piss beofre I lined up, after 2 hours in the line I got on the ride, the olny "excitement" was me thinking I was going to piss myself on the ride, the ride was boring, but I made it to the toilet which was a relief.
Wet n Wild is awesome fun, dont try and beat the little kids on the mat race, bruised ribs sucks lol. Movei world the superman is just awesome as is the wild wild west. Dream world the lines are long, so plan a long day or two days there if you want to enjoy it.
If your into that sort of thing, try Outback Spectacular, its an awesome meal and free beer/wine all night.
We used the orange shuttle bus, was 90 bucks for a 8 day unlimited pass, got us everywhere we wanted to go.
Also in Qld, the hot chicks want to sleep with Qlders, beware of fake fat imitations who are willing to sleep with you, they appear at every club.
epic face, epic face, epic face, JIZZ IN MY PANTS
your comment was just full of lol's. but ye true, last thing i want to do is wreck my body on one of the rides. screw these fake fat chicks. im gettin me a bull ridin chick.. which will prob be a fat chick.. on a bull
