Dont have the diesel or auto but the manual 1.8 petrol cdx isnt to bad no rocket ship but for what it is they perform well an the stock sound system is more than enough. Dont know if you can change the h/u or not because of the way it is set up the buttons are seperate from the screen ???

How do you connect the iPod to the stereo - via a USB cable or an AUX cable? (one that plugs into the headphones jack) You can only control the iPod through the stereo if you're connecting it through USB - the AUX connector is only for audio, and doesn't allow you to either control the iPod through the stereo, or charge it.

Dont buy the petrol model, the engine is a gutless dog. If you're buying a cruze, you need the turbo diesel.

i second that, a friend went from a VE Omega to a Cruze, she asked work for the diesel but they wouldnt because its got a turbo, so now she has the petrol...she had ideas of badging it and replacing cruze with slug!

    Petrol Manual - OK
    Petrol Auto - No
    Diesel Auto - No
    Diesel Manual - OK

They have woeful automatic transmissions, dont know what gear they want to be in etc etc.

Yet still, I would be taking an Auto diesel over a manual petrol.

Yeah, sorry. Had a longer post but internet shat itself.

Basically, stay away from the auto and the petrol if you can. But if you need to go auto, make sure it's a diesel auto.

there seems to be zero interest on this car here but i'd like to point out there's a new 1.4 turbo version that is very very good with the 6 spd manual...

everyone knows the 1.8 is garbage but the 1.4 especially in manual would be good value as a daily for $22-25k while your V8 weekender takes a rest

    Dated a girl who's got one :

its absolutely gutless, takes too long to get to 60.

    Gearbox is pretty crappy

Entertainment system is a pain in the ass, i've either gone pioneer or alpine most of my life and after figuring out how to make her ipod connectivity work the sound quality was really shitty, the tuning options didnt do much.

and the worst part of all... it's pretty uncomfortable to shag in, I suggest avoiding girls who drive this car for shags unless they dont live with their parents.

Holden Cruze 2010 CDX Diesel Auto

I have the car in question above and purchased it for my wife last year new from the showroom floor and didn't bother to test drive (wife tested) , every now and then I use it and try and give it a hard run but get into all sorts of trouble , GOES AROUND CORNERS IN NEUTRAL WHAT THE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I personally approached Holden about my (wifes Cruze) going around a corner in neutral and said I freaked as is potenntially dangerous if you need a gear (2nd) to get out of trouble. I had said I pushed it harder than my wife but no harder than normal (whatever normal is for a diesel , keeping the revs up) . The dealer said that going around a corner if pushed hard in neutral was normal as was a symptom of the electronic fuel management (keep fuel costs down) system associated to the automatic .
I have had other diesel auotos and this is by far the worst car we have bought and driven I dont trust it (to go in neutral) It is a fundamental engineering design issue with all diesel engines married to an automatic gearbox that has too few gear selections and this car is the worst in the worls ,too many wasted revs and still 9.5litres per 100k's. Drives like an old 1970's trimatic. The moral of the story , NEVER GET A DIESEL WITH AUOTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . The Cruze CDX is a great car just get a diesel manual. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My sister just bought a CDX Cruze auto, and is very piddled off with the way it goes. As stated, auto cant make up its mind what gear it wants, gutless, and drinks fuel. Not a happy camper
She sold a 99 PulsarQ manual to get this, and wishes she still had the Polly.

Anyone know what the new 1.4L Turbo Petrol Cruze is like? or would you still get the turbo diesel?
