wanted: electrical apprenticeship melbourne

Hey guys, thought i might as well give it a go here since i've been looking everywhere and see if anyone on here knows anybody who needs a 1st year apprentice electrician

hopefully somewhere around the northern suburbs

i'm 19, i've done my pre app, finished year 12, have my own car and license, hard worker, quick learner

so yeah, if anyone knows anybody give me a pm

You boys need to sell yourselves direct to employers to increase your chances. Send out resumes then follow up a few days later with a phone call to show you are serious (lots of people just randomly send resumes to employers to keep Centrelink happy)

Offer to work for a month on trial to prove you are keen, reliable etc before signing on the dotted line for an apprenticeship.

Thats exactly what my son is doing ,He has been helping out a mates father to get some hands on experience. He has got an interview with Jemena next week just by sending them a resume .

Daniel: no one may be hiring right now, but what happens if tomorrow someone quits or gets fired? They have your resume fresh to hand. The name of the game is hit the streets. Statistics (love 'em) show that most jobs are never advertised but filled either in house or by cold calls. Another statistic is that for every 100 applications you get 10 interviews to get 1 job.

So the story goes Colonel Sanders was knocked back over and over again trying to sell his secret herbs and spices chicken. Imagine if he gave up after a few tries. There would be no KFC today (not that I think that's a bad thing )

Im also looking for an Electrical Apprenticeship, as Dayvo said above his son has an interview with Jemena, look them up as there hiring a fair few apprentices, theres electrician, linesman, cable joining apprenticeships available with them.
Also look up Schindler Lifts are looking for apprentices, also Kone Lifts are looking.

But also give the Union a call on the website go to the Apprenticeships section theres a guy called Omar who deals with apprentices and he can help you out, he got a mate of mine an apprenticeship through victec so hes basically an apprentice on loan to companys and has a contract which makes sure that he cant get sacked from an employer, and say after 2 years the company you have been with dont have any work for you, victec will find you someone to continue your apprenticeship with.

thanks, im doing that neca test next month so i'd say ill have a job in the next couple months

i know what u mean sashyre and i have been doing that but with no luck unfortunately.... ill keep trying
