Hey everyone,
Im in New Zealand and I've just decided to import a differential from Australia for my commodore (getting it off Ebay) and talking to the freight company ive chosen (not naming names) they're being a bit cryptic about what needs to be done.. I'm a bit over asking them for advice so I thought I might try and see if anyone on here has any experience with this sort of stuff.
The problem is, they seem to want me to get a commercial invoice and a bill of lading and god knows what else.. I'm not sure what I need to fill out and what the guy im buying it off needs to sign.
If anyone has done this before, or works for a freight company and could give me a brief step by step of what I have to look forward to please let me know. I just want to get through this as quickly and painlessly (and cheaply) as I can.
Cheers.
International shipping is a bitch, not only is it expensive but for some reason it takes so bloody long. Would almost be cheaper to fly over here and fly back with that as your luggage.

I dont know why its so hard? I'd ring another freight company and ask if the ship from Australia. Even try Astralia Post. Just give them the details and see if they will do it. Surly getting delivery to NZ shouldnt be like shipping to korea or somthing. We're neigbours.
shipping from aussie is easy till it gets big or heavy my minispool was $50 postage to NZ from aus

Sounds like your dealing with a freight forwarder ... try someone like DHL / TNT or FedEx (but it will be expensive!).

Hah, yeah its a full diff inc axles, discs, calipers.. so around 100kgs i guess... So far the price is $630 NZD for shipping hah. Half the price of the Diff itself.. Ill have a chat to DHL.. Maybe they'll be a bit more helpful.
Cheers.
DHL is a good international company, they also own half the NZ postal service .I would try a company that ships via sea not air as DHL try
Welcome to Australia Trade Shipping and New Zealand Shipping
dunno about the rules in NZ but I thought just a commercial invoice would be sufficient just so they can see the goods value, also pretty sure NZ and Australia have a free trade agreement, if your goods are made in australia then im pretty sure you can skip the duty maybe some other costs.
i use: Constance & Love International - Customs Brokers & Forwarding Agents for most of my stuff.
perhaps not the cheapest but a less severe headache.
