Ive searched the forum and found nothing (don't know what to type). Anyway on my way home tonight i was traveling with about 2 other cars. Rounded a corner and saw a Flash for cash on the side (facing same direction as me). It was a 90 zone i think i was doing about 100 gaining on the cars in front, then they saw him applied the brakes and by the time we went past we were doing about 85 90.
Anyway i was watching my rear view and as a car went past in the opposite direction i saw the whole area light up. Now i think i was well out of range and under the speed limit.
My main question is (mainly for my own peace of mind, and that of my probationary license). Can the roadside cameras clock your speed in the say back window (as it was a Nissan Patrol) and then photograph you on the way through at the front of their vehicle. And are they set up to only detect vehicles traveling in a set direction? Because on a previous ticket it has info up the top of the photograph that states location, speed, speed limit, and direction of travel. Ive attached a snip from the QLD transport website.
It could all be coincidence that the other car was traveling the other way, but why would be on my side of the road getting cars on the other side? It was on a rise and is probably unnoticeable as they come over the crest.
Anyway if someone has some info they might like to share, cause the wife aint keen on driving my arse around AGAIN..... Would be appreciated.

Forgive me lord for i have sinned, I hit 4th gear jump5th gear pinned:b:
The photo is taken as you enter the beam area of the radar/lidar. If you were not speeding when the flash occured, then it was not for you. The cameras measure in both directions, as long as there is no obstruction such as a median with a bush etc in the middle of the two lanes.
Cool thanx Stressball, Lidar hahaha I like that one.....

Ummm Lidar wasn't some vague reference to a 'lying radar' it means a laser speed camera. Extremely accurate and infinitely superior to the older style radars.

I've just looked into it further and realised I was wrong about the point of the photo being taken. It is always taken when the car is at the same point on the road, which will be as you enter the beam in one direction, or as you leave the beam in the other. Either way, my original point stands; if you were not speeding at the time the flash went off, it's unlikely it was taking a photo of your car.
